  • Mark Mangino to Youngstown State.

NBC Sports is reporting Mangino has been hired Youngstown State as an assistant head coach and tight ends coach. He was an assistant under Tressel when he was there from 85-87. Quite a drop for a former BCS coach who coached in an Orange Bowl. His later Kansas teams were pretty decent.

If someone could post a link for me, that would be great. I saw this on my NBC Sports Talk App and my work blocks anything sports related.

Interesting news...I did a quick search and found the story on Yahoo sports. Here's the link:

Crap! Mangino does a great job. As a Husker fan I watched several of his teams dismantle the Cornhuskers. Hopefully he goes out-of-conference soon.

He left his last job under a cloud of allegations he mistreated players. Not so sure why this is a good thing for Youngstown then.

In the article cited in the links, Mangino respects Wofford who inturn respects Coach Stig. This could mean a turning of a leaf by Mangino from a moral perspective and SDSU may struggle from now on in beating Youngstown. Wofford is a moral and a very good coach and now help is on its way as long as Mangino is on a leesh. Whether Mangino's ego can tolerate a leesh remains to be seen.

Above 500 at KU is good, right? (Asking for a friend.)

Jaawks have a 47.7 winning percentage so yes, above 0.500 is good

Were any of these allegations actually substantiated? It is crazy how a player can cry wolf one day and the coach is gone the next.

Very few, if any, I believe. The AD at KU (who has since been shown the door) wanted to hire "his guy." That turned out to be the dumpster fire that was Turner Gill.

And if they were alive, I wouldn't want them coaching in the Missouri Valley either.
