      2 more minnesota boys join the squad for next year.

      165- John Nething- New London Spicer. placed 3rd 4th and 6th. He was a defensive stud on their state championship football team too.

      285- Casey Johnson- Kasson Mantorville. placed 3rd and 3rd.

              And they aren't done yet. Coach Liles said he had two more he was waitiing to hear from and when I talked to him last night at the Senior Banquet, he saw he had a message that he had to call one of them.

              On top of that, I met two UC-Davis wrestlers today at the baseball games, and their dad was along with them. Davis has dropped wrestling and they were making a visit. Don't know how any of that will turnout, but I can tell you we are going to have a lot better wrestling room this fall!!

                  Editor’s Note: Here are final rankings of the nation’s best 2009-10 high school seniors. Six factors were considered in determining these rankings. They include: (1)accomplishments at the state high school championships (folkstyle) (2) National Junior Freestyle and Greco-Roman success (3) Cadet National Placement (4) performances at prestigious high school tournaments (5) information from coaches and parents (6) state from which nominees hail. Wrestlers are listed at the weight classes from their respective state tournament series. Rankings were finalized on 4-15-10

                  #19 @ 125 Drew Fleming

                  #21 @ 140 Tony Vaske

                  #25 @ 140 Andrew Youngbloom

                      The 2010 edition of The Guillotine Academic All-State honorees features thirty first-team members, thirty second-team members, thirty third-team members, and twenty honorable mention wrestlers.

                      Wrestlers were submitted on nomination forms signed by a coach and school administrator verifying their current GPA (minimum of 3.0), number of current season varsity matches wrestled (minimum of fifteen), current season win percentage (minimum of 60%) and grade (junior or senior).

                      Points were tallied according to current varsity wins, current state tournament placement and cumulative high school GPA. Each of the first team wrestlers receives two certificates and a letter of recognition.

                      This year’s top Academic All-State wrestler spot goes to senior Andrew Youngblom of Mora.

                      First Team
                      Andrew Youngblom, 140 lbs. Mora, 12th 4.19
                      Tony Vaske, 140 lbs. River Valley, 12th 3.84

                      Second Team
                      Drew Fleming, 125 lbs. Watertown-Mayer/Lutheran, 12th 3.2

                      Third Team
                      John Nething II, 160 lbs. New London-Spicer, 12th, 3.17

                      Honorable Mention
                      Troy Morisette,160 lbs. Tartan 12th, 3.76

                        Names of incoming Freshman have been added to the roster on GoJacks, but lacks Kyle Caylor. Has something changed or just an oversight?

                          I am relieved to see that Kyle's name is on there now. I am still amazed at the quality (at least on paper) and size of this class.
