KSFY is reporting that Parker Douglass will get a one day tryout with the Kansas City Chiefs. Here's a link to the story:

Coach Stig also said that Parker had this tryout with the Chiefs during the spring game on WNAX.

All I heard is that the Chief's liked what they saw and would get back with Parker when they make a decision. Hard to believe someone will not be interested in a kicker as good and dependable as Parker.

You never know with kickers. I don't remember the kids name but about 6 or 7 years ago, UND's kicker was unbelievable. Very accurate, high percentage of touchbacks, range was very good. Got a couple of tryouts, didn't miss inside of, I think 55 yards, during the tryouts, and my understanding is he didn't ever get a second look from any team. I never really understood how team value kickers.

I was very surprised that Adam Vaniteri made it as I recall he seemed to be very hard on himself when he was a Jack. But the thing about Adam was that he invested in a specialist coach whose name escapes me and worked with him. The rest his history. For every NFL player at any position, there are what maybe 1000 guys who wanted that job.

Good luck to Parker, but I believe he has a very respectable GPA and interest in medicine so even if the NFL career never developes he will do very well in life. He seems to have a great winning attitude.

I think the kicking coach was that guy in the wheel chair, Doug Blevins. I saw him at the Vikings training camp a few year ago.

my understanding on how pro's judge kickers is like this

accuracy inside 40 yards.... it doesn't matter if you can kick a 75 yard fieldgoal if you can't hit a 40 yarder 95% of the time....

Kickoff's.... They want accuracy and length on these,

and then its distance....

The one knock on Parker that I've heard is that scouts feel he doesn't have quite enough hang time on his kickoffs. Can't remember where I heard that but it was someone who should know. Take the info for what it is worth.

Wags is back in Brookings for a few weeks of R & R. He is jacked about his shot at making the team as they have 5 TE's and 4 make the roster. The change of pace is a big shock to him but he is taking it in stride. He is happy to be back and thankful for the fan support.
