  • ORU vs. Kansas - 7 pm 11/15/06

For those of us in the KC metro area (or if you've got ESPN's Full Court package), Oral Roberts will be taking on the Kansas Jayhawks momentarily.

    It's on Channel 38 in Kansas City . . .

The game's got a pretty fast pace, but it's 14-14 with 9:38 to go.

I don't think the Jackrabbits want to play either of these guys right now . . . there's some athleticism on the floor. ORU is managing to play with KU early, and that's saying something. Kansas is LOADED this year.

ORU's opened up a 25-18 lead in Allen Fieldhouse. That's probably all you need to know about ORU's basketball ability.

We got a ways to go to get to this level, folks . . .

      Yikes, 28-18 Golden Eagles now . . .

          Go Eagles Go!

The Mid-Con is having a heck of a year so far.  Combined the Mid-Con is 10-4.

Sagarin has the Mid-Con 17th out of 32.

60-51 ORU, under 10 minutes to go in the game.

The Golden Eagles are playing toe-to-toe with the Jayhawks (and then some) so far.

KU making a late charge, ORU leads 71-68 with a little over a minute left.

Final: Oral Roberts 78, Kansas 71.

Let's think about what this means . . . it means when the SDSU coaches talk to some recruit, they can say "you know, Mid-Con basketball is pretty good. You know Kansas, right? Kansas is pretty good. Well, a team from our conference went into Allen Fieldhouse and beat the Jayhawks."

ORU just gave Coach Nagy an early Christmas present.

These are the games that are needed to make the Mid-Con a multiple-bid conference. Hopefully, our future conference bethern will take out a couple more major schools this season.

So, in a game that counts one of the programs from our conference defeated the Kansas Jayhawks in Allen FH. Another fact that some doubters may want to appreciate. Watch out Big 12 here comes the Mid-Con.
