BROOKINGS- Three third inning home runs sparked South Dakota State to an 18-8 victory over Southwest Minnesota State in game two of a doubleheader Wednesday at Bob Shelden Field. SMSU split the series, winning the opener 10-5.

The two squads put on an offensive showcase, combining for eight home runs, eight doubles and a triple in the doubleheader.  .  .  .

Geary, a senior from Rapid City, broke his third SDSU career record, total bases. He now has 409, breaking the previous mark of 407 set by Billy McMacken. He’s one away from two other career marks: home runs, McMacken, 42, and doubles, Russ Langer, 50.;

SDSU is now 12-29, while SMSU is 17-17. The Jacks will play a four-game set at North Dakota State, with the first pitch set for 1 p.m. Saturday in Fargo, N.D.
