  • GDT: Jackrabbits vs Fighting Hawks @ Frost Arena

Brewster brings his team to Brookings with a much better outlook than the preseason chatter who had the team picked 6th in the Summit. UND is 3-1 in the Summit and 12-5 overall. F Hawks have lost 6'6" reserve/starter Leet the past couple of games with a longer term injury likely and Brewster has pulled the red shirt on 6'3" VanLoo in order to keep the strong rebounding advantage they have had on opponents. UND has 1 senior and 3 juniors(including Leet) on this team. They have won at Denver in conference and lost big at Tulsa. They shooting 40.3% from the field and 32.8% from deep. There will be many new freshman faces on this team who get on the floor. Hopefully the Jackrabbits can keep the perfect conference record playing in Frost to set up the rivalry game for Saturday. Go Jacks!!

I think SDSU should win easily tonight. UND is 3-1 in conference but they beat Denver, Fort Wayne and Omaha. Those three teams are 2-11 in conference. UND won those three games by 6, 6 and 8 points. Two of those wins (both of the 6 point wins) were at home. Could they lose to those teams on the road?
It should come down to USD and SDSU in the top tier, UND, ORU, Western Illinois and maybe either Denver (possibly) or Omaha (less likely) for the next tier and NDSU and Fort Wayne struggling to beat anybody except each other even though the rest of the league is struggling.
I could still see UND finish around 5th (or so) in the league.

Brewster is a good dude. He'll have his team ready.

Hopefully the Jackrabbits come ready to play and they can handle them. But if there's a slip in play, or any 'looking ahead' to the Coyotes, the Fighting Birds will be tough.

Lauren R in a walking boot tonight. Good gawd, is it mandatory to have two or more players hurt at all times the whole season. Sure feels like it.

Nelson hits a pair of threes - before that they hadn't hit anything from beyond about 5 feet.

Jacks end the quarter on 14-0 run after trailing by 2. Still doing most of the damage from in close and from the free throw line.

Tylee having a great half with some offense along with great defense and rebounding.

The Midco TV guys had me worried for a few minutes. They hyped up the Hawks like they were a young version of the LA Lakers or something. They're not playing like it. With SDSU up by 18 at half, the announcers might have to walk back some of that praise.

Bultsma’s scoring the past couple weeks is sure helping offset the loss of Myah’s 13+ ppg. That along with our improved outside shooting.

Thueninck having a good 3rd quarter. She continues to get more comfortable and gain more confidence as the season progresses.

Cascio-Jensen not having her greatest game.

Nice win for the Jacks as Paiton dominates again with 27 pts!

She is constantly hounded full court which might wear on her. She still found 5 boards, 6 assists, and only 2 turnovers.
