Where's Sloan and I'm guessing Mueller is on a descension plan if not injured

This tournament has no impact on the season, so I’m sure there isn’t a reason to have them wrestle if there is a chance of injury.

              Re: IIIIIIIIIIIIIT'S TIME!!!!!

              Tournament Recap:

The competition level is not real high. Good experience for the younger guys but not many ranked guys here.

125: Vega - 5th lost by fall to MN starter and tech fall to NDSU starter. I think he will be an improvement to Coapstick but his first folkstyle tournament as a Jackrabbit was not great.
133: This was a really weak weight without Sykora and Price. Kimball took 2nd so that is good for a true freshman, hopefully he can be another surprise out of Iowa.
141: Carlson took 3rd only losing to M. McKee by fall. Solid tournament.
149: Pohlmeyer lost to MN backup in semis by fall which is disappointing. He came back for 3rd.
157: Devos took 3rd which is pretty good for a true freshman. Unfortunately, if he red-shirts neither Cook or Lakmann placed. Is Carlson injured?
165: Kenny O'Neil took 4th losing Fogarty by tech fall. He lost to a non-D1 guy in the 3rd place match.
174: Cade King took 3rd only losing to Skatzka from MN by fall. Solid showing for a true freshman.
184: Carlson took 1st place. He beat a solid kid from MN in semis, his teammate medical forfeited in the finals.
197: No-one entered. Assume Sloan is hurt?
285: Wolters took 2nd losing to Metz from NDSU in the finals 9-2. On a positive note, if Steveson does not return to MN, MN did not seem to have a great backup.

Hopefully, the whole team will be able to compete at the Daktronics and competition level is a little higher. Hopefully, the Bison, Gophers and Cornhuskers show up.

                Re: IIIIIIIIIIIIIT'S TIME!!!!!

There were some really encouraging things that I saw today, but there were also some disappointing results. Here are some take aways.

                1. Vega under-performed. I think that McKee is that much better than his and I'm not that concerned by that loss but the loss to Mitkiff was a hard one. I'd like to see that match to see what happened but I suspect he'll do better next time.

2 Tanner Jordan showed some flashes. He did very well against Midkiff and he was beating Gliva until the end. Gamet was the only loss that bothered me. I think he'll become more consistant over time and he could be our started next year.

                3. Daniel Kimball is much better than I expected. Kimball didn't draw a lot of attention out of high-school and I expected a .500 season out of him. For him to beat Ryan Ripplinger (who was one of the top recruits in the country) is a very big deal. I think he can be a starter one day.

                4. Pohlmeyer's loss doesn't concern me. I think that Bergeland beat Pohlmeyer fair and square. He was better that match. That said, I don't think that Pohlmeyer is going to have a worse season than last. We know what he is and I think he'll be fine. He hit a surprisingly talented Jakob Bergeland who he wasn't ready for and I think he'll be fine.

                5. DeVos is DI ready. DeVos showed consistance in winning the matches that we'd like him to win and he was right there with Franek who will be ranked by the end of the year. He'll face some stiffer competition next week at the Dak, but I'm encouraged by what I saw.

                6. 165 is still very much up in the air. O'Neil showed us that he's going to continue to be what he's been today. Garret made made some strides but didn't make separate himself from the pack. DeVos could wrestle up, as could Carlson and Taner Cook is still unproven.

                7. We could see a freshman at 174 this year. Both Cade King and Jacob Schoon proved themselves to be promising. Cade rattled off five straight to come in third after a tough draw in Devin Skatzka. Schoon was undersided at 184 but was very effective on top in a lot of matches. If he works himself down and continues to improve, he could be a contributor early in his career.

                8. Trenary performed below expectations. Spencer Trenary was a huge recruit for us. To see him go 1-2 against some pretty weak competition was concerning. Heavyweights are hard to recruit and adapt to the college game. Some of them can turn around a poor freshman year and some of them are what they are. The fact that Trenary came to us so polished makes me wonder if he isn't in the later group but this is only one tournament, and there's a lot of time for him to prove himself. This could be an aberration. Both Wolters and McConnville did very well though.

                Injuries of note. Laken Cook
Conspicuous in their absence. Kahlen Morris, Zach Price, Trayton Anderson, Caden Lamer, Taner Cook, Martin Mueller, and Nick Casperson

I would say that we all saw improvement this weekend over last season. Can we all get out and support the team in the 1st dual of the season this Friday?

"2 Tanner Jordan showed some flashes. He did very well against Midkiff and he was beating Gliva until the end. Gamet was the only loss that bothered me. I think he'll become more consistant over time and he could be our started next year.

Can someone remind me, what is Tanner Jordan's situation/association? He's not on the roster but wrestled under JWC. Is he still in High School?

As for guys who didn't compete that are projected to contribute (i.e. Price, Brothers Cook, Marty, & Tanner) safe to say they sat out to prep for this weekend due to minor bumps & bruises or weight management?
