Wow. I know State doesn’t have much to brag with the way attendance has been but 4700 is really bad for USD.

Commenting on SDSUAlum08's post expressing concern about USD's numbers. Keep in mind USD's capacity is currently cut in half due to renovations of the DakotaDome. The DakotaDome capacity has traditionally been listed on the USD site at 10,000 although in recent years it was a little less than that. The USD site states that the capacity while the current renovations are underway, is 5,500. [It's concerning that they aren't selling out the 5,500 capacity.]

NDSU's attendance figures continue to be outstanding. Essentially every game in the FargoDome is a sellout or nearly a sellout. Try multiplying those numbers by a reasonable price for game tickets and the revenue stream is tremendous.

I think SDSU continues to trend up. Attendance is not consistently where it should be based on the product the Jacks have been consistently putting on the field. And, Saturday's game, hyped in part by ESPN's GameDay, does wonders for the "average" calculation but I was very encouraged by the number of SDSU fans in that crowd. I think NDSU had about 2,500 fans in the stadium -- a great traveling crowd (not as many as we saw in the past but still that's a good showing). If that estimate is accurate, that means the SDSU fans numbered about 16,800. That's one of several games in the brief history of the new stadium at which the local crowd was in that range. The student crowd was reported as 3,562 (and did you notice that the crowd -- including the students -- stayed to the very end).

I would have said around 4-5 thousand bison fans but im not a good estimater on that. I figured if you put them all together they would have fill 4 sections on east side. But i dont know how many seats are in a section. I like your 2500 estimate better. Well short of 10000

Just a point of clarification. USD's capacity hasn't been close to 10,000 in the last 15-20 years. When they announced their renovation, it was announced that they would be rebuilding 4000 seats on the west side, which was an addition of about 2000 seats over there. Knowing that they only have 5,500 seats to sell in the undisturbed half of the done this year, that math says that pre-rennovation, they actually had about 7,500 capacity. And after their grand renovation, it'll still be under 10k. They haven't had close to 10k at a game in a long time, and all the games over the years that they averaged 80% capacity were actually crowds under 6k.
