  • GDT: Jackrabbits vs UND Floating Doves @ Frost Arena

UND comes to Brookings with conference record of 3-8. They are producing about where the preseason guesses had them in 7th place. They have defeated WIU twice and Denver in conference play. The big man Avants has missed a handful of games recently which puts the ball into the hands of Seales and Cortez who seem to dribble and drive a bunch. I expect this game will not finish as close as the Grand Forks game. The Jackrabbits are not likely to have the same lapses today when they get the lead extended. The Jackrabbits continue on the mission for the #1 seed for SLT. Go Jacks!!

Jacks seem a bit rusty after the week off, especially from the perimeter.

I’m guessing we’re no longer the #2 ranked 3-pt shooting team in the country! Yikes. It’s amazing we’re ahead after going 0-15. That’s like 15 turnovers!

Credit the Jacks defense for turning this game around.

Win by 25 when shooting like that?

That shows how spoiled we are. This is a really good basketball team.

Early in the second half the Jacks were 19-24 on 2 point shots, and 1-16 on 3's.

UND has a dream come true today - SDSU shooting 3 of 25 from 3-pt range. That has upset written all over it in bold letters. It’s pretty impressive that the Jacks somehow turned that into another easy victory. If you’re still waiting for this team to show some toughness and grit I’m not sure what you’re watching.

20 rebounds?!??!? Weird to say but Daum is under appreciated. We will feel it next year on the glass more so than anywhere else.

Calling it now, Daum will have a long nba career. Not a star but in the league for a long, long time. The work ethic is obvious. It’s been incredible watching this guy improve and grow every single year. Truly special.

It has been fun watching Alex Arians develop. He has gotten really good at working the baseline and getting open when Daum gets doubled. He is a good finisher around the basket.

His ability to finish around the basket is amazing. He's got great touch and it doesn't seem to matter if there's a big guy there to alter his shot, he finds a way to put it in. I think that's the biggest reason why we haven't had a need to put Dentlinger or Dillon in there, because Arians has been able to be a reliable outlet for Daum down low.

One of the reasons he can finish so well against bigger players is his use of the rim to protect his shot. More often that not he drives under the basket and reverses his shot. And being left-handed seems to throw defenders off a bit.
