  • USD at Fort Wayne

Dons up 14-5 at the 15:33 mark. Free video available for the game. Since State isn't playing, I'm scouting the other teams. Video quality is decent and the Chromecast has it on the big screen.
    ...

With 10:42 on the clock, Fort Wayne 21, USD 9. FW shooting about 50% and USD taking the same number of shots but hitting only 25%. Nice to know the PA announcer at Fort Wayne doesn't say "Missed" when the visiting team misses a shot (like the announcer in Vermillion). (Makes me laugh: everyone there can see whether the shot went in but apparently that's not the case in Vermillion.)

USD has 9 fouls, Fort Wayne 4 -- about 3:23 minutes left in the first half. 45 - 22 Dons up.

USD is getting hammered. They’re down 54-30 just before half and have foul trouble that might bite them late in the game. FW is getting about any shot they want and USD is shooting like USD.

The Coyotes have been able to count on their defense keeping them in games so far this year but tonight it is MIA. I guess the same happened to us defensively at FW. When the Mastadons get comfortable they can light up the scoreboard.

Halftime: Fort Wayne 55 Vermillion 33

Hard to believe Fort Wayne lost when they played at USD.

Fort Wayne 100 Vermillion 62 with just under 3:00 to go. This is the fifth time this season Fort Wayne has hit 100 or more in a game.

USD was picked preseason, to finish second in the league. Wonder what people were thinking when casting those votes? USD bit hard by injuries this year but with the injured players now back on the floor, they're playing some of their worst basketball. Hard to figure what's going on. Fort Wayne can't be counted out of any game.

Yotes have 2 road conference wins which include at Grand Forks and Denver. Those 2 teams are currently 2-6. Their 1 home win is PFW who is 4-7 on the road with 2 conference wins on the road in North Dakota. The Yotes defense is not appearing to be too difficult for most teams if there is not a Mooney or Hagedorn on the floor to get points enough to win offensively. The Yotes offense is the best defense for opponents. They are positioning for a bottom third finish. It is a steep hill for the yotes to finish .500(5 of 7 to finish). If there are yote fans with SLT all session passes, expect to find those men's session to be on the market.

The score is misleading as it wasn't even that close.

With that stellar defense, USD can no longer claim defense as one of their strengths. They went from averaging 66.6 pts/game allowed to 74.2 pts/game in one extremely poor outing. What is it about playing at Fort Wayne for SD teams. Is the bucket that much bigger when they shoot?
