        We're the 9th lowest tuition out of the 50 on this list. How in the world are Wyoming and University of Florida so low though?! $5,218 and $6,380 respectively? Those numbers can't be right, unless they're going for quantity over quality at those institutions.

          higher state subsidies? I wondered that too. those numbers don't count for room and board though.

            The Center on Budget & Policy Priorities (CBPP) identified MT, ND, and WY as three states that increased inflation-adjusted spending from 2008-17, so you might be correct.

                SD has historically been, er, frugal with its state support for higher education.
