honestly- we should. We have the best player in school history and one of the to mid major players in the country. Unfortunately I don’t care about the NIT. We need to make the tournament. When conference is in our backyard there is no reason to not.

Sure we should but would you rather play and lose an NCAA game or final four of the NIT?

Seriously? The NIT honestly means nothing.

I beg to differ. It's definitely not the NCAA Tournament, but still decently respectable. Light years between than the CIT or CBI. I would still take the first round round loss anyday but the NIT isn't a bad consolation prize.

I think most of us are still red assed about losing to Western, if it would have been Omaha or Fort Wayne the reception might be a little better? Some on here have called out fatigue as a cause. I say BS, this was only the second game in basically two weeks. There are many 40-60 yr old men who work hard everyday, these guys are 20+/- yrs old in great health and they have access to most any trainer/specialist they could want. Were they mentally fatigued, maybe, if that is/was the case that is all on the coaching staff. Every other team in this country plays basically the same amount of games in the same basic time frame.

For all the crap we gave USD for celebrating their NIT championship, it will be interesting to see how we will spin it and claim that it is different for us.

Completely agree. No kid dreams of growing up and winning the NIT. The NIT is just a consolation gift, even if you win it.

For the seniors 1 and one in the NCAA. For the underclassmen, as many games as possible in the NIT. Forget the other two tournaments.

A few years ago I was watching a tournament game with a friend of mine who's a former player on one of the SDSU (mens or womens) basketball teams that had first round NCAA tournament losses year after year. They said that while the NCAA Tournament was cool and a life long dream to compete in it, making the NIT and having a realistic shot at winning several games and playing several more games, would have been something they'd like to experience just once rather than another first round loss. Tough experience to trade, but something they'd have liked one time.

That said, there is still a lot of quality ball to be played in the NIT. There could still be a lot of season left, so get out and support them! Hopefully there are a few games at Frost still to be played!

What if I told you the underclassman don't really play?
