  • Vin Scully on NFL kneeling protests

The great sportscaster, Vin Scully, weighs in on the Kapernick-started controversy with the NFL. Scully says he'll never watch another NFL game. See story linked below.

Is there a chance that there will ever be a conversation about the reason why they are taking a knee? I know they have said it is about police brutality aimed at minorities, but will there ever be a discussion about if police brutality is an issue and if it is, what can be done to prevent it? Has that ship sailed? If there were to be a national discussion and the situation was resolved, would Kappernick be viewed as a modern day Rose Parks? It will be an interesting ESPN 30 for 30 episode for sure.

Probably not. It was painted pretty early on as them being anti US/military. Even though numerous times they tried to explain the actual reason, the other noise took over and was latched onto by politicians.

LInk to a story from 2016 with Kaepernic's explanation:

There are many things in this man's baggage. It is also noted that he voluntarily left the 49ers. It may have something to do with the anticipated release. The NFL players in general may take a lesson from the golf tour and maybe pony up some money and programs to address this law enforcement problem with their time to outreach in the minority neighborhoods. As they try to do it on the cheap, they have bumped into something that some do not appreciate the approach used and then those ears do not listen to the message of police brutality or whatever the interpretation might be. It may be a good time for a reboot and NFL money to be directed to some community outreach with law enforcement. Actions like time and money will produce more fruits than a symbol that many do not totally understand. Meanwhile, Kaepernic is not likely to earn much money as a player. If he had Ray Lewis talent, you can wager he would be playing.

Kaepernick sported a Fidel Castro shirt before he started kneeling. That was an incredibly poor look after he started crying about social injustices in America. The oppression by Fidel's regime were/are more atrocious than what is happening here.

When Kaepernick wore the pig socks last year in practice I was done with him. I've stopped DVR'ing all the Vikings games now. The NFL just doesn't interest me like it used to.
