Jackrabbits move up 2 spots to #3. Yotes are still #25 after ISU loss and the Leathernecks hang on at #21.

I'll be much happier if we're still # 1 at the end of our tough OOC schedule. That said, glad we have that kind of respect shown, that's a reflection of all playing presently, and everyone previously who've worn the Jackrabbit uniform. Very happy in all they've accomplished. We have the number one target squarely on our back now, but sure this group can handle it. Our OOC games were all going to be tough regardless , so shouldn't really impact that much in our preparations in the forthcoming games, tuck this away in our list of accomplishments, and it'll be back to working hard and becoming the very best team we can possibly be.Congrats!

Women move up to #2 in the Mid Major poll this week (behind our nemesis Green Bay). USD has fallen to #22 (from #20). WIU has fallen to receiving votes after going 5-2 to start the season against a cream puff schedule. IUPUI is currently ranked #23 but I watched a bit of their game against UNI (whom they beat) and they actually look really good with a post freshman who is going to be really good. Think she was a top 75 player out of HS. I suspect they will easily be a top 15 team this year. Our conference would have been a dogfight at the top had they stayed.

Interestingly NDSU was receiving votes with their NAIA level schedule, but now they have completely fallen out. They look improved over last year, but not nearly there yet. The conference looks to be us, USD, and WIU at the top with everyone else at least one step behind.

I saw this article about SDSU's OOC success and possible postseason ramifications in today's Yankton P&D and thought it should be shared somewhere on the forum.

            https://www.yankton.net/sports/artic...ce4342f26.html

We definitely are currently on the way to at-large bid territory or something higher than a 13 seed if things keep up. Will this finally be a year like 2009 where we avoid stumbling into a couple of big upset losses? The chances for big-time wins are over but there are still some quality opponents. Games at FGCU (Mid Major #4) and Drake (#13) will be tough and very important for polishing up the OOC resume.

Monday the Jacks got 4 votes in the AP poll and 2 in the Coaches poll. We might see a few more after the OU win (if we take care of business against 7-1 Bowling Green). Taking over the #1 spot in the Mid Major poll is going to be tough. Green Bay continues to roll and is now ranked in both the AP and Coaches polls (23/25).

I think if they have a great season, and win the league title outright in the regular season, it's certainly in the cards.

The program has a reputation now, and is known in women's bb circles as having a consistently solid team. IF the season goes really well, and they get upset in the tournament (it happens), they could be "in the mix" for an at large.

Wow, an article in the Yankton P&D with positives about SDSU?! The USD faithful must be steaming!

I choose not to think of such things as this! We win the STL!

I thought the same thing and had to look twice to make sure it was not just some AP article like they usually use for SDSU. Of course the theme of the article was that "SDSU's resume might be good enough to get an at-large bid" instead of "SDSU's resume might be good enough to get a higher NCAA seed than normal". That still appeases the Coyote faithful by allowing them to picture cutting down the nets in Sioux Falls. Well played.

                        Re: WBB Mid-Major Poll

3 votes for the Jacks in yesterday's AP poll. Oklahoma has 12 votes and Green Bay has climbed to #21. FGCU (who we play in a couple weeks) has one vote. If we keep winning these OOC games we might inch up near the top-25. A few of the teams closely ahead are bound to pick up a loss.

We lost a vote since last week, when we had 4 votes. The more good wins, the better our rpi,if our rpi continues to drop, voters will not be able to ignore that.I'm not that concerned though, after all, receiving votes in the AP poll doesn't do anything to win games, the team has to do that.

                            Re: WBB Mid-Major Poll

Both SDSU and FGCU (#3 Mid Major) picked up losses over the weekend, though both to solid teams (RPI 51/63). It will be interesting to see if we drop from #2 in the Mid Major poll.

We're getting close to the end of OOC and RPI's are starting to get a little more meaningful. Here are a few of interest:

                            SDSU 28
                            WIU 135
                            UNO 166
                            USD 189
                            ORU 226

                            FGCU 29
                            GB 4
                            Louisville 6
                            OU 47
                            NC St 33

We have a big one against FGCU in our OOC finale (Friday the 29th). That will be the last chance for a resume-builder win.

Our loss to Creighton could end up really hurting us. Making me realize the 26 hours between last Friday at 4PM when the women tipped off to Saturday after football game really sucked. (Men lost in double OT to Colorado in that span). (Insert puking face emoji)
