Even a 7 seed like we were in 08-09 (WBB), we only got one easy game (10 seed),very next game was #2 seed Baylor, we barely lost by 2 pts. We did just as good as a 12 seed against #5 Miami two seasons ago, then lost the heartbreaker to #4 seed Stanford by 1 pt. If you have the team, you can meet the challenge is what I'm say'n, we've come agonizingly close (WBB)to a sweet 16 a couple times already in our brief time as a Div 1 program. There are lots of programs that have been Div 1 much longer than we have who haven't sniffed near the success we have had in the relatively short period of time we've been playing Div 1 basketball.
I was referring to the Men's basketball team when talking about 14-16 seeds. Not only would you have a better chance at a better seed, if you play tougher competition throughout the year, it raises your level of play and level of recruitment, which makes you a stronger team come tournament time. Think about UNI teams that make the dance... people take them seriously because they are built to win games against the top schools. You can wear blue and yellow glasses all you want, but right now no one is scared of SDSU in the dance.

I see your point, agree with them, but nothing stops us from doing what's in bold, even at a slight disadvantage and,we have to make them scared, right? I'd just about go for a move to the MVC,just to see if all these theory's about making us a lot better would actually materialize or not,who knows, maybe a bold move would do the trick.I'm not totally against it,but just wondering if it's neccessary or not.You seem to have strong feelings that we can better ourselves in the MVC more so (maybe even dramatically?) than we can just staying in the Summit We have varying opinions on this question. What happens if we never get invited...while we're waiting,we have to lay the groundwork in the Summit.

Thanks I did not know that. I am still a "no" in your poll. I don't think the MVC will have any problems filling the WSU vacancy

Here are last years scores from Summit-MVC match-ups.....

          USD 79 Drake 74
          SDSU 83 Drake 75
          Loyola-Chicago 78 ORU 53
          Missouri State 64 NDSU 50
          Missouri State 86 ORU 76
          UNI 86 SDSU 58
UNI 78 UND 70 (Yes, UND and not UNO)
          Wichita State 89 SDSU 67

Not sure what you can take out of this, but out of an 8 game sample it would suggest that we still have some work to do to close the gap. We will have to see what this year brings.

My bad,was referring to WBB....yes we need better than that for sure....we even played pretty good against a #1 seeded Gonzaga , within the point spread...but yes, we have to get a better chance for ourselves in the Big Dance. Agree 100%

Would have liked to see the end of the season version of the Jacks play Wichita State and especially UNI.

If the NCAA ran their organization like SD Amateur Baseball, this might have occurred. I don't know about current rules, but in the past, after being eliminated in District play, they could play until December if want to. Also had a rule allowing pick players from defeated teams.

It isn't that easy of a decision. Making that bold of a statement shows his lack of research on the subject.

What is to research? There have been no overtures from the MVC to Jackrabbits or Bison. Slam dunk decision....no rumors make that reality different.

Money will drive this, not the whims of indiviual fan thinking. I am redundant in saying this, SDSU has a good working relationship with hosting the Summit League tournaments with the SF Sports Authority and the SL. Why mess this up?

An insider claims that the MVC is interested in and has been in discussions with 10 schools. SDSU is one of them.

Others mentioned: Murray State (OVC), Northern KY (Horizon), SE Missouri St (OVC), Belmont (OVC), Oakland (Horizon), Milwaukee (Horizon), Grand Canyon (WAC), UT Arlington (Sun Belt), and Denver (Summit).
