Yes it appears the Summit is not a top 12 RPI conference this year. That might bode well for the Jacks, as we currently aren't nearly as good as we were last year. IPFW is the early favorite.

Kampe and the Oakland Griz pick up a Summit victory over Oral Roberts. They spanked the Golden Eagles 92-64.

Has anyone else noticed the tough early schedule that Omaha has? If they get into conference schedule with a .500 record, they will be seasoned and could be a team to challenge IPFW.

        74-60 (W) @ UC Santa Barbara
        72-82 (L) @ USC
        68-81 (L) @ Kansas State
        87-100 (L) vs. Rice
        112-65 (W) vs. Buena Vista
        77-94 (L) @ Eastern Michigan
        83-73 (W) @ Cal State Fullerton
        Dec 3rd @ Iowa
        Dec 5th @ Iowa State
        Dec 10th vs. Montana State
        Dec 15th @ UMKC
Dec 18th vs. Cal State Fullerton
        Dec 21st @ Pitt

There first four games in the Summit will be tough too. At USD, at NDSU, Fort Wayne, at SDSU.

It looks to me like they have a stronger defense this year, which, was their Achilles heal last year. Their roster is made up of the type of players that we recruit too. Six players from the Omaha metro/Freemont area. Four from neighboring states and three from the Twin Cities. Their last roster player is juco transfer that is originally from Tennessee. Some of these players are recruits that Nagy had gone after hard: JT Gibson and Marcus Tyus from the Twin Cities and Mitch Hahn from Freemont. With the troubles we've had this year with finding a point guard, it sure would have been nice to have a seasoned player like Gibson or Tyus on the roster.

I'm willing to bet this "tough schedule" is due to the fact that their department is in need of bringing in as much guarantee money as they can in the OOC season. All their games on the road against power-5 schools would be guarantee games:

          72-82 (L) @ USC
          68-81 (L) @ Kansas State
          Dec 3rd @ Iowa
          Dec 5th @ Iowa State

I'm thankful we don't have to deal with the same thing at SDSU. A byproduct of them not having a football team to bring in 300-500K for a guarantee game.

I'm thinking Omaha will challenge Fort Wayne with NDSU lurking, like always.

Be interesting to see where the Jacks end up. I have no real idea yet.

I agree that Omaha appears to be on the rise. They beat Iowa today. It's going to be tough to get one of those top-2 seeds.

Saw it reported that Omaha received $85,000 for going over to Iowa City and beating the Hawks.

Seems to be a trend over in Iowa City.

Down to 13 with about 5 to go. IPFW is gonna be a handful in the Summit...
