Sounds like Dentlinger is a walk-on first year.

He may not be the only one if there is an extra player somewhere.

This is what our 2017-2018 roster will look like without any defections:

                      Seniors (5)
                      Reed Tellinghuisen
                      Ian Theisen
                      Lane Severyn
                      Andre Wallace
Skylar Flatten (Could move to a JR pending medical waiver)

                      Juniors (5)
                      Mike Daum
                      Tevin King
                      Chris Howell
                      Brandon Key (Juco Transfer)
                      Dallas Polk-Hilliard (Juco Transfer)

                      Sophomores (2)
                      Sergio El Darwich
                      Adam Dykman
                      Beau Brown (no scholarship)

                      Freshman (4)
                      Alou Dillon
                      Ryan Krueger
                      Alex Arians
                      Matt Dentlinger

That's 15 guys for 13 scholarships. Be interesting to see how this all shakes out. Someone hinted a couple of the new guys may be paying there own way for a year.

TJ said at Stater's Luncheon that one of the recruits (Dentlinger I believe) will be non-scholarship his first year. Apparently he has excellent grades and will get most of his schooling paid on academic scholarships.

I count 16 guys for 13 scholarships. If Dentlinger is non-scholarship for year one, that leaves 15 guys for 13 scholarships. I believe the roster maximum is 15 as well, so there will need to be some shuffling to get to that number even if Dentlinger and Brown are non-scholarship guys.

I really hope to see Dykman back as he looks very athletic in the limited minutes he got. Needs to add some muscle!

You're right. I tricked myself. The number in parenthesis is the # of known scholarship guys and I assumed all the new guys would get one. I only accounted for one scholarship out of the sophomore class when I did the math because there is non-scholly Beau in that group.

I know watching him in warms ups, he looks crazy athletic when he goes for his dunks. hopefully that and a year of practice helps.
