  • GDT: IUPUI @ SDSU

Big game tonight. Is it supposed to be a black out for the crowd?

The black out came in an email sometime and I think there are some free black t-shirts today-maybe 2000 if I recall. The Jaguars have surprised many this year. They are getting 60% of their scoring from guys who were on the bench last year with that redshirt due to transfer. The tough OOC schedule gave them time to play together and of course we have seen the rest of the conference story where the record is 7-3. 7 wins is the most conference wins since 2010-11 when the Jaguars were 12-6. The Jaguars have won over NDSU, WIU, & IPFW by 1 or 2 points before losing to Denver by 2. Close games have been the rule for them the past 4 games. They have shot 47.6% in Summit play with less than 25% of their shots from the 3 point line. The Jags are an improved team, but I do not expect them to stop the Frost winning streak for the men today. The game should also be more than a 2 point game at the end in favor of the Jackrabbits. Go Jacks!!

Should be a good crowd and a lot of energy in the building tonight. This is a chance to (at least) keep pace with FW plus deal a severe blow to any aspiration IUPUI has of earning a spot in one of the Saturday games at Sioux Falls. The Jacks are favored by 13. That's a lot, but Frost has been a nightmare for visiting teams (and IUPUI is on the back side of a 2-game trip). I like our chances.

Anyone know if Skyler is playing?

Tyler Merriam said Flatten can't fully participate in practice. He's doing some things in practice but isn't fully participating. He has not been cleared to play yet.

Bittle practiced all week and even Marshall practiced for most of the week.

Jacks are getting healthier in the last month of the SL. Good to see.

11 is a nice lead for playing less than spectacular offensively. I'm guessing that we might score a little better in the second half. Also, if the typical road trip fatigue is going to hit IUPUI, it should be coming before too long.

Jacks are now 7-19 from the FT line. That will cost them a game eventually.

                      It's a growing concern...that's for sure.

                        Final: SDSU 80, IUPUI 58.

Jacks shoot 52% for the game while holding IUPUI to 35%.

Parks lead with 17 points. Marshall added 16 points and Daum added 16, as well.

Only nitpick again is FT shooting. The Jacks were bad from the line again, finishing 12-24.

Jacks are now alone in first place in the Summit League.

SDSU heads to Omaha on Wednesday night.

I liked that the Jacks went inside more in the second half, where they had the advantage when the Jags got in foul trouble. Thought they relied on the 3 a little too much in the first half.

And then there was one. Things are set up nicely for another championship after a very comfortable win. The Jacks played far from their best but it was enough for a 22 point win. That says a lot.
