  • 2 All Americans!

Trent Lusignan, with a 24-place finish, and Joel Reichow, at 36, both attained All-American status at the NCAA National Meet yesterday in Louiseville. Those are outstanding accomplishments in a field that included not only the country's best cross country runners but many who can compete on the world stage.

Think about how tough the competition was by considering this: Although 12 places behind his teammate, Reichow's time was only 7.2 seconds behind Lusignan.

Link to the story on GoJacks.com is provided below. A link to the meet results is included with the story on GoJacks.

Lusignan is a senior. It's his second All-American distinction -- he finished 12th two years ago (took a redshirt year last season).

Reichow is a junior. He was also named All-American Academic a couple weeks ago.

I believe there were no other Summit League runners in the men's race.

SDSU continues its decades-long domination of cross country against its conference mates and has earned some stripes on the national scene too.

Congrats to the team, Lusignan and Reichow and Coach DeHaven.

Side note: Coach DeHaven's son, Addison, a freshman at Boise State, a distance running powerhouse -- Boise State qualified its team which finished 16th out of 31 teams that competed -- finished at 167, the fifth runner on Boise's team. That's a very good run by Addison.

    Re: 2 All Americans!

Trent and Joel really earned compliments for their outstanding performances at nationals. It is highly competitive to be an All American in Division 1, and having two earn AA status is quite a feat. Congrats coaches, Trent and Joel. Well earned recognition!!
