I would presume the Jimmy Rodgers stare did not work this time. Good luck Julian

I'm not sure where to put this, so it is going here for now. Stacy Keely could be back.

DE - Stacy Keely, 6'8" 235, Omaha, NE (Iowa Western CC) - HUDLOffers: Southern Mississippi

Keely and his brother Eron were part of the 2013 class at SDSU. Stacy had a scholly and Eron was a walk-on.

Last year, Stacy played DE at Iowa Western and judging from his highlights, he appears to have adjusted well to that side of the ball. He originally came to SDSU as a TE. With his frame, leaping ability and his basketball background, I thought he had a bright future catching balls for the Rabbits. I can't remember if it was academics or something else that caused him to leave Brookings, but I'm intrigued by his potential from the edge on defense.

He has put on some weight to his lanky frame, (205 lbs. in HS) and I'm assuming he has improved his athleticism. He was a two-time state high jump winner in Nebraska and I believe he made some all-state teams on the hardwood. It was also either Stacy or Eron who won a preseason hamburger eating contest as a freshman at State. If my math is correct, he would have two years of eligibility remaining.

Coach Rogers continues to find talent in AZ. This time it is an OT with a big frame and great technique. Put some pounds on him and let him go to work shutting down defensive ends.

Tanner Hawthorne @TannerH52 May 8 I received my 3rd offer from South Dakota State! I want to thank @SDSURogers3 for the offer #Jackrabbits

OT - Tanner Hawthorne, 6'6" 275, Peoria, AZ - HUDL
Offers: Missouri State, Weber State,Adams State

With many schools hosting camps right now, we are seeing an increase in offers from many schools. I found this Rivals BisonReport story interesting on OL recruit Gavin Rush. It gives a good perspective on what the priorities are for recruits. To get the most out of this, take time to read the full story and not just the following quote.

"I'm extremely interested," Rush said. "I really love the school, the coaches and the winning tradition of NDSU. I can tell that I will be pushed to be the best person and player I can be here. I'd put them at the top with SDSU and Wyoming, but I'm still considering all of my offers. I'm planning on making a decision in July after I'm all done with my camps. It'll all be about if the school is the right fit and I want to feel comfortable and happy there."

Aurora High School in Nebraska has a strong history of producing D1 talent despite not being a large school. They average 90-95 kids per class, but they are consistently competing for Class B state titles. I hope Mr. Rush enjoys his camp in Brookings and decides to call it home for the next 5 years.

Looks like a good commit. Are behind or ahead of last year in terms of commits?

UWMandSDSU beat me to the post about Sam being our first commit last year, but I was going to echo that we are ahead of any previous recruiting year. Two years ago, Trey Carr was our first commit coming out of our Elite Camp. As posted this weekend by UWM/SDSU, expect more commits after this week's elite camp. Dan Jackson tweeted the same optimism this weekend.

What is really nice is that the three early commits that we've received thus far are all highly regarded (3 star) recruits that would have likely received more FBS offers had they held out longer. This has the makings of a banner year.
