    Re: Blake Treinen

I've picked him up in my fantasy league. Mind you it is a 20 team dynasty league with 10 spots for pitching. Good thing we have NA spots. Also have Thielbar.

Please tell me it's weekly lineup changing instead of daily. I stopped playing fantasy baseball a couple of years back because I couldn't handle daily lineup switches during the summer. I was actually in a league that CoyoteFan put together.

Daily. Fortunately, I have the Yahoo Fantasy Sports app that lets me change my line ups. Its usually the first 10-20 minutes of work each day. Hardest league I've been in since we draft/pick up up minor league players to build our teams. Hence why I picked up Treinen in hopes that he will be a future reliable starter in the future.

I figured there had to be minor league involvement with 20 teams. Players run thin when you get past 12. At least it's not an AL/NL only league.

Blake Treinen to take Gio Gonzalez’s spot in the Nationals’ rotation

"Now that Gio Gonzalez is on the disabled list with left shoulder inflammation, the Nationals will turn to right-hander Blake Treinen to take his spot in the starting rotation."

The game starts at 6:05 Central Time on Thursday. It will be televised on the MLB network. I am planning to go to the local pub and watch it.

WashPo does a lengthy profile today on Treinen's road to the Major Leagues. Amazing story of perseverance.

Looks like he might get one more start here this weekend and then be sent back down when Gio Gonzalez is called back up, but again, I stick by my prediction that he will get meaningful innings in a pennant race. The Nats have a lot of moving parts with Ryan Zimmerman coming back and Bryce Harper soon to come back, and I would not be surprised to see them make trade moves in the pennant race that might open a spot for him in the bullpen, at least.

According to the Washington Post, Blake Treinen will start Saturday against San Diego. It sounds like he will be sent down after that.

Treinen got his first win tonight in Chicago. Pitched well through a 55-minute rain delay. Here is the ESPN player profile for him. Not the horrific college mistake. There is a correction link there in case anyone wants to join me in a crusade to get the dam..ed thing fixed.

Treinen got called back up again to the Nats and it looks like he will pitch in the 9th inning of an 11-0 Nats lead tonight.

Nats' Color Guy FP Santangelo tonight as Treinen strikes out Ryan Howard and Marlin Byrd consecutively on nasty breaking balls: "He's got closer stuff. A lot of people project him as a future closer."

Treinen has been optioned to AAA-Syracuse. Hopefully he will be back with the big league team in September, but this has to be considered a good first taste of pitching in the show. 38 1/3 innings, 2.35 ERA, 23 SO, 11 BB.
