Is Ohnesorge still playing? Lost his spot when the AFL folded, hopefully he gets a chance again somewhere.

One former Jackrabbit on this list, can't even fathom how good our secondary would have been had Shak Taylor stuck around and have him and Jordan Brown on opposite ends of the field. Shepherd from NDSU also gets a shoutout in the article.

Yep. That's right. Thanks. I thought it was trey but couldnt recall. Didnt we lose our leading tackler at linebacker around then also for similar reasons or violating them rules.

Charles Elmore, team rules. It's amazing when you look back how much talent we have lost for one reason or another...yet we are consistently in the playoffs.

Thanks that's the name. He was young also. To bad some of them dont work out because building depth is the hard part and we have been much better at it these last few years.

                    Re: Professional fmr. Jackrabbits

Sounds like the Cowboys are trying to find a spot for Taryn. Expect him to be released and signed to their practice squad so they can develop him. The following is from DallasCowboys.com:

Why haven’t they tried seeing what Taryn Christion has done as far as playing quarterback? Can he overtake Mike White? There had to be a reason they have taken him onto the team besides just an extra body? - DOMINIC GALLEGOS / ALBUQUERQUE, NM

Bryan: They have a plan for Taryn Christion. He’s your new Jameill Showers on the practice squad. They’re going to use him the way they used Showers once the season started. He’s going to play a ton of positions and figure out what’s the best position for him. It might not even be quarterback.

Rob: Christion is listed as a quarterback, but we haven’t seen many reps from him. He has lined up in a lot of spots at different points in practice – receiver, running back, special teams. As Bryan said, we’ve seen this approach with Showers in the past: a good athlete they like and seeing if there’s a spot for him. Definitely a practice squad candidate.

(FYI - Jameill Showers was a free agent QB that the Cowboys signed a few years ago. He was waived and placed on their practice squad. In his 2nd season he was battling Dak Prescott for the backup slot behind Romo. While he performed well in training camp, Prescott was a high draft pick rookie and they made the commitment to go with him. Showers was eventually converted to safety. This will be his fifth season with the Cowboys, but only has two years credit in the NFL.)

                      Re: Professional fmr. Jackrabbits

Jordan Brown's best chance may come through the practice squad or on another team. The Bengals will not be good this year, but they do have numbers at the corner position. Two reports out of camp this week show that Jordan's not getting the opportunities others are.

                      From local12:

                      Secondary -
Dennard has yet to practice and head coach Zac Taylor said last week the 27-year-old is still "week to week" on when he might return. Dennard had minor knee surgery in May. Placing him on the regular-season PUP list would mean he would miss the first six games, but if he is going to miss at least 2-4 games anyway then it's hard to believe the Bengals will carry him on the 53. Tony McRae has worked his way onto the roster with an impressive preseason and he is a quality special teams player. Rookie Brown is likely ticketed for the practice squad. The final spot at safety has been flipped with Wilson moving onto the 53 and Henderson moving off. Henderson allowed the long touchdown pass against Washington on Thursday and Wilson is also a better special teams player.

                      Bengals.com reports:

So at corner you’ve got Jackson, Kirkpatrick, Webb, Phillips and McRae. You wonder if Dennard is looking at PUP and when can Russell get back? They’d love for Harris to step up because he’s so physically talented. The seventh-rounder Jordan Brown looks to still be adjusting. They ran him out there for just nine snaps after he played only a dozen in the opener.

Not a great week for some former Jacks. Christion, Zenner, Witzmann, Ohnesorge, and Jordan Brown were all released and remained unsigned.

There are some former players who transferred that made a practice squad, though. Stacy Keely to the Vikings, JT Hassell to the Browns, and Shak Taylor is on the Colts IR.

Whatever came of Charles Elmore after being dismissed? A google search brings up nothing.
