I assume you are being sarcastic?

KTVB furnished the feature on Turner, describing his difficult life. His mother died of cancer when he was four, and he and his father weren't close. Turner was in New Orleans for Hurricane Katrina, eventually ending up in California at a junior college, living with his girlfriend and her family before moving in with his uncle. Due to government housing regulations, Turner can't stay at his uncle's place, and he isn't going to Boise State for summer school until June 6. So, he's currently homeless.

After Boise State's request last night, the school may provide immediate assistance to football student-athlete Antoine Turner.

Somewhat related, the NCAA announced it is going to reimburse players families for travel expenses to the college football playoffs and the Final Four.

Looks like up to $3,000 for the FB playoffs and Final Four semifinals and $4,000 for the Final Foul championship game. I like it.

I was not sure were to post this, and did not want to start a new thread. Is there a thread on the full cost scholie stuff? If you are not aware, sure sounds like NDSU is pushing full speed ahead on offering this. See:

Last I read in the Argus, Sell sounded worried about cost, but just wanted to hear the latest. I just don't see how SDSU CAN'T do this, and wondering if there has been any official word.

There's an old thread on the subject. http://sdsufans.com/board/showthread...et-paid/page25

Your AD kind of danced around the Title IX implications. Maybe i misunderstood but did he imply womens COA might be calculated differently?

Anyway,if SDSU wants to stay competitive,we're are going to have to pay the price.

Wanted to resurrect this, as this is now a real issue for SDSU.

Agree he danced, yet, if NDSU simply raised required TM dues for seats for football by $10 a game, they could pay stipends for every sport without any issues. I don't think the money will be a difficult issue if they have to do it for literally every sport.

Not sure I read the same article as you did but I didn't get a sense Justin Sell was "worried" or crapping his pants. He is on the AD council that will see this through.

Link to a podcast where he talks about the paying of athletes. http://argusne.ws/1JdeqAF

Agreed. I think Justin Sell is carefully deliberating and studying the options.

I came across these links tonight, and I think they clear up a lot of the confusion that's been floating around. They come directly from the NCAA and are the actual proposals as well as a Q&A document that was sent to the voting representatives prior to last weekend's meeting. Heck of a lot more accurate than bleacherreport or espn.

                          The proposals:
                          http://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/fi...%201-12-15.pdf
cost of attendance proposal is 2014-13; of the amendments, only 2014-13-1 passed

                          The Q&A:
                          http://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/fi...%20and%20A.pdf
pay attention to the stuff on equivalency sports - that's what FCS football is

Not sure what is "options" are if he wants to stay competitive with NDSU. Saw another interview with Larson, and it sure sounds like full steam ahead on this.....

"Options" for some institutions may include cutting sports as NDSU has done in order to favor certain sports. [I don't think that's in the plans for SDSU.]

Those are certainly viable options. In visiting with two different AD's this week, those extra costs range from $2100-4000 or slightly more to cover the full cost of going to school. That's going to be more than $500,000 expense you the budget not planned for. Then the next question is if you do it for one sport, do you have to do it for all sports. The next question after that is do you give it to athletes on partial schlorships, in full, pro rated, or not at all. NDSU and other smaller college fan bases act like it's no big deal. But it is a huge deal.
