  • 2017 recruits

With all the hype and well deserved recognition Macy Miller has received,I just about forgot to mention Chloe Lamb from Sulley Buttes ,just a freshman this year, whom I also watched during the girls State B tourney.
Like Macy, she's really smooth and seems to play under control, has a nice drive to the hoop, and can hit a short jumper occasionally. She seems more mature than her age would indicate she should be,good basketball sense. She could really develop into another special recruit for the jacks in two or three more years.

6'2'' Myah Selland from Sanborn Central/Woonsocket is gaining some interest from multiple colleges, including SDSU.

From an earlier 2017 thread started by Westside Rabbit August 2013.
On Twitter: AJ just posted the usual "it's a great day to be a Jackrabbbit."

The recruit via the Minnesota Fury account is Lindsey Theuninck a PG from Mankato Loyala. As an 8th grader she lead her team to the state tournament.

Is she like Alexa, or Gabby of our current players? Extremely quick and shoots well, sounds like. Good handles, or will she have to have an adjustment to the speed and quality of the defense in college ball? Assuming you've watched her play, if you have. Just curious,2017 is a ways yet.

              Re: 2017 recruits

We are booked pretty well into the future, if my crude list is correct. I have rosters of 14 for both 2015 and 2016.Then ,2017 we have 12 or 13 (Lamb not yet verballed?).2018 drops to 8 or 7 left on the roster to 2019 having only 3 or 4 (again Lamb, hasn't verballed?)That's as far as my list goes, for now.

Our teams are pretty well set for the next two years with the teams being composed of the team of this year, minus our graduation losses and the addition of the four Fr for next year (2015), and, losing Chloe and Gabby the following year and gaining the addition of Sydney Tracy and Megan Bultsma for 2016.

I have not seen the young gal play. However, the stats for Lindsey list her at 5'7" and 147#. That is not your frail sophomore girl. Much of the information for her shows leadership qualities and an ability to drive with the ball. She has been a top 10 player in Minnesota for the Class of 2017 for a couple of years. Her father is the coach for her high school team which has some similarities to other recruits that come to SDSU. An 8th grader at the point for team and led the team to a 4th place finish in Class A as a freshman. She is averaging over 30 points per game this year. The defense may be like most coming to DI and there may be some teaching required. She averaged 1.3 steals at the AAU level with 2 assists per game and 8.7 points.

minnesota girls bb hub has her listed at 2nd in scoring (748 pts), 2nd in ppg (28.8), and 12th in 3 pointers (63). not sure how up-to-date the stats are. would think they are current.

was just reading some comments about Myah Selland. stating jacks have offered her. some other comments stated she will play for North Tartan during Boo Williams, but, will play with SD Thunder (?) for summer. other comments were she is going to have her choice of schools, including the "larger" schools. another commented that, before she is done, she may be a player the likes of SD hasn't seen before.

have to admit, i don't know much about her. for those that might, think jacks are on her list?

Hope she's a stay close to home girl like Macy and Kerri, and Waytashek was. They could have played for bigger schools too, I would think. If she does choose the Jacks, she'd join Macy (senior year),Mieras, Flaata, Bultsma (verbal), Tracy (verbal), Guebert, Graettinger,Palmer, Ellie, Alexis, Theuninck (verbal ) + rest of future recruits.Pretty good group of players.

Any big with guard skills is hard to overlook. Looks like a bright future for her, just keep an eye on progress. History shows that the really great players don't have a plateau, they keep improving their game. Can't let them escape the state to some other high profile program(or even that red team).

Elena Delle Donne comes to mind. My hero, turned down Geno, stayed home, gave him a complex. She played for Blue hens in Delaware, and of course,is currently a star performer in the WNBA.
