  • NCAA Women's Tournament Bracket released early???

    https://twitter.com/traviskriens/status/1107736294224990208

It looks like ESPN mistakenly released the Women's bracket early today. If this is correct then
SDSU will be a 6 seed playing 11 Quinnipiac in Syracuse. Winner would get #3 Syracuse/#14 Fordham winner. Potential Sweet 16 rematch with 2 seed Oregon.

#8 USD is headed to Starkville, Miss., to take on #9 Clemson on Friday. Winner would play at #1 Mississippi State on Sunday.

I saw that too and have no idea if it’s correct. It did look legit on the screen shot, for what that’s worth.

One fact about Syracuse: they officially averaged less than 2,500 fans last season (I did not see this season’s number). I know nothing about their team but that would be one factor making this a decent draw.

The NCAA announced Monday's selection show has been moved up to 4 p.m. central on ESPN2.

Looks like NCAA and ESPN are acknowledging the leak as they have now moved the selection show up from 6PM to 4PM CST. Which sucks for every team like us who has a selection show viewing party scheduled.

I would love that bracket if it’s true. I don’t know what kind of fan support Quinnipiac has, but Syracuse can’t be a long trip for them.

The road to the final 4 goes through Quinnipiac, then likely Syracuse, Oregon, and Miss. St. (unless USD knocks them off first)... How crazy would an elite eight matchup of SDSU vs. USD be?

Since Iowa State ended up as a 3, it's too bad that the NCAA didn't match them up in Ames with the Jacks.

This is a really good draw for us. Should have a very good chance at the sweet 16. Oregon rematch would be fun but that's a tall order outside of frost. I'm sure a sweet 16 would get the AJ rumors flying again

Quinnipiac's tallest player is listed at 6'3" a freshman who does not appear to have played this year Rachael Stovall. Next tallest player is 6"1". The rest of the team 6 ft and under. the forwards are all 6 ft or 6' 1". they are riding a 21 game winning streak. one common opponent, central michigan who they lost to 67-52 at home on dec 2. dont appear to be a long range team from 3, 202 made out of 713 attempted .283. average home attendance for 15 games 883. from their stats they do get a lot of steals per game 367 on the season

I assume that would happen with even one win. How about coach P at USD? Her phone is going to be ringing if they get a win. That resume is solid and lots of schools seem to look at females first.

On another note, congrats to the Summit for finally getting two teams in. How many times did we hear that was simply not possible? Now we have two with top-8 seeds. It makes you wonder what else is possible.....

One particular poster was pretty adamant the Summit was NEVER going to be a two bid league.

If one more team could step up to the plate like SDSU and USD have, then we could be looking at a Summit team hosting the first weekend.

He doesn’t post much here anymore after he guaranteed us Daum was transferring to Wisconsin last year. 0 for 2 on bold predictions.

A quick look at the Bobcats find an undefeated conference record of 18-0. Of the 11 teams, there are 3 teams with an overall winning record. Rider, Marist, and the Bobcats have a winning record including MAAC play. The best of the rest find 9-9 records down to 1-17 with no other teams showing success outside of conference play. This may explain the gaudy defensive numbers of 50 points/game defensively as they cruised to an average 23 point victory in conference. Hopefully the Jackrabbit can keep turnovers down and score more than 50. Quinnipiac has been the winner of the opening of the NCAA tourney games the past 2 years the lower seed. That in itself may be close to a record which also includes with a trip to Sweet 16 in 2017 as the Bobcats are in their 5th tourney.
