Got the right answer but 1/2 point off for failing to show work.

What did you think of the Jacks being labeled a more Midwestern Pitt?

Also found it interesting that they opted for Princeton rather than Rutgers as the top NJ team.

Unfortunately, outside of SD. When someone says __________Dakota______Football, most instantly start talking about our Green/Yellow brethren up north. SDSU is light years ahead of our successes during the D-II era. But there is little acknowledgement by non-SDSU fans that there is another successful football program in the Dakotas.

Rutgers must be horrendous (read bottom 10) to give nod to Princeton, which has been upper tier Ivy, but not always champions.

Lose games we should but play well most of the time. pretty much sums it up. sounds like pitt and us.

I've always thought we were more Wisconsin than anything with being consistently ranked, in a major conference, and working up the rankings to drop a dumb game. But I'm biased having grown up in WI. Honestly I think you could draw comparisons to most MVFC teams to B1G programs IMO.

Interesting comparison -- I kinda see the Jacks as more similar to the Hawkeyes, not only in terms of record and commonly being overlooked nationally to conference foes (the Hawkeyes to Buckeyes, Badgers, and lately Wolverines, and the Jacks to Bison and previously UNI) but also head coaches.

Stig and Ferentz strike me as similar in that both have been relatively successful but less apt to seek media attention than conference brethren (which can impact national attention given program). Plus, I think both could be labeled "conservative" playcallers and have similar sideline demeanors.

I always feel any time the Hawkeyes are highly rated and big expectations they always fall short. No exception and they break out. They never seem to win the big game and that sounds like sdsu.

Hopefully recent playoff wins and winning in Fargo last season serve as harbingers of a non-Hawkeye ending this year then

Teams always "never win the big game" . . . until they do.

Yes...I'd call that a truism ,undeniably a true statement, one that makes perfect sense,....until they do "win the big game" with consistency,it will always remain an issue,or making it a goal is maybe a better way to put it.Once this goal is achieved, with consistency, one could reasonably call such a performance of winning consistently the "big games" as a dynasty.I don't think there are very many people who would even consider the Iowa Hawkeyes as a football "dynasty",because they don't win the "big games".So, they muddle in obscurity (irrelevance).

I'm still waiting for the VIKINGS to "until they do"?
Looking forward to joining the Summit & MVFC.

2 years ago the Coyotes got the Bizon.
Last year the Bizon slipped to the Rabbits.
This year both SD's could make the Bizon slide.

I would agree that with your analogy and also add that like Wisconsin, SDSU's success is recent, Wisconsin's more relatively speaking. Wisconsin football really did not exist prior to Barry Alverez. Now if SDSU could continue with regular conference championships and create a great home field environment, then we'd really have an apt comparison. Unfortunately, in the latter department, we are much more like the University of Minnesota than Wisconsin. A run to the national championship and if the University would lighten up on tailgators, could resolve that issue.
