  • National Duals

Jackrabbit wrestling tweet alluded to potential news tonight and I think there is a good chance the team gets selected in the 16 team national dual series happening next weekend.

Added benefit, this year is the year that the top 8 big ten teams selected travel to face the other top 8 teams in their gyms.

So, Jacks may get another home dual next weekend on top of what will be a great dual already scheduled with NDSU.

Dual series tries to regionalize the matchups and doesn't like to pair up teams who have already wrestled, so likely MN and Iowa are out. If it happens, good chance we may see the Huskers. Maybe Illinois. Possibly Michigan. Juicy matchups for Seth Gross and others with any of them.

Hasn't been reported yet. I think Nebraska will be the opponent.

Schedule was supposed to be released but they (NWCA) postponed it until Monday morning.

                Re: National Duals

Purdue it is. A little disappointing. Purdue is not ranked. Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois are not competing. A lot of people on Twitterverse are saying Brands (Iowa) is ducking Virginia Tech. If Iowa would have gone to Va Tech then things would have probably shifted where SDSU may have gotten a different matchup.

Purdue at #17 South Dakota State, 7 p.m. Central

                  Re: National Duals

PSU vs OSU in the first round? That seems a bit silly. Nothing like putting a premier match-up in the first round. Seems a bit odd.

I think Purdue is a good match-up for SDSU to move forward. Do they list what possible second round match-ups would be? Or maybe I just don't know the format of this set-up.

One time dual. Not a bracket format type tournament. They put top Big Ten school against top non-Big Ten school (PSU vs. Ok St).

Cael Sanderson, PSU Coach, agrees that the match-ups should have been different according to rankings. Iowa should have been paired w/ Va Tech. SDSU should have gotten 16th ranked Michigan.

I feel we kinda got the short end of the stick. Could have been a great opportunity for the program to beat another ranked opponent. Still is a great opportunity to get invited to do this. Looking forward to the Jackrabbits derailing the train!

(Thought I'd mention this. The Pep Band has been asked to play for this. Very good chance of having the band back!)

The format is more like a Bowl system showcase, still awesome to be asked. Rickroll Purdue and move,on to NDSU
