So, your poster got a glimpse inside of the nearly finished football practice/indoor track facility. Learned several things:
    - This 80-yard field is going to be offered to 9-man high school games in inclement weather (read playoffs)
    - Seats 1,200 and I would imagine hundreds more in sidelines standing, as you often see at small-town football.
    - The artificial turf is partially made of soybeans. Main field reportedly will contain the same material.
    - An eminent poster on this board says the 300-meter track will even the odds for the long-legged guys after many years of disadvantages on a shorter track. Eminent poster happens to be one of those long-legged guys.
    - Learned that mere pictures of this facility, which will be dedicated next week, have already impacted recruiting. Can see where an 18-year-old will be wowed by it - and the prospect of playing in a new stadium by redshirt freshman year.

Too bad it's not a 100-yard field. Could have attracted some 11-man, high school football games. Granted, it would have cost more. I peeked inside the facility a couple of times during the construction process. It looks very nice. With the football stadium, baseball field and softball field, that area is developing into a very impressive part of the campus.
      This space for lease.

Wasn't ever designed to be 100 yard field. The purpose is for a 300 meter indoor track and practice facility. It wasn't built with the idea of hosting football games. It's a training facililty for the Jackrabbits that was built to host indoor NCAA track meets. So it's not too bad, its exactly what SDSU wanted it to be.

This was my understanding as well, otherwise we might as well gone ahead and built the Dkyhouse Dome.
