Re: To the pep band
I'll second the motion to move the band to the other end, right next to the opponents' bench (hey, if Oakland does it, why not?)
One of the things I really like about SDSU is that the entire south lower stands are pretty much dedicated student seating--unlike most major D-I schools where students are stuck on the end lines. (Now, there are some who prefer that view, but most folks want to sit at courtside, not at court end, student or non-student).

Re: To the pep band
The band, consisting of students, has been in about that approximate location for many, many years. Students pay well over a million dollars in student fees just for athletics. In addition, when bleachers were removed from the lower level (over a period of time) students lost a significant number of places to sit. I'm not sure if taking more students out of the lower level is a good idea.

Re: To the pep band
I do think they should put the pep band in the second level of Frost. Those are some prime seats behind the basket. Don't know how the parents like having the band right next to them (I guess it wouldn't be any better behind them either). I do like having the band there. Maybe the best idea is having the band behind the opponents bench and fans. This way they can't really hear during timeouts.

They must have been thinking "two things that the fans REALLY love"

Re: To the pep band
I'm glad you brought up the bad decision to have a cell phone call in poll about what fans liked most. The band was sitting there watching it unfold. If the ice cream lost, who cares? It doesn't have feelings. It was a rotten decision by whomever put that thing on the big screen. What were they thinking?

Very well done...great arrangement, very faithful to the original.
That band is a huge part of what makes Frost such a special place.
For those of you who were at St. Joe the year of the championship, we will never froget the band coming the first day!!! When they walked in the place went crazy! It was terrific and played a huge part in "Jackrabbit Nation" taking over there! Thanks to the band you so much more important than ice cream and we all know it!!!

Re: To the pep band
There are those on this board who aren't big fans of the bands (pep band, marching band). As pointed out, those bands are great additions to the athletic venue. And, if either is absent, there is a loss in the overall quality of the event.

I agree, and you don't realize how much you would miss them until the game they couldn't be there.

Re: To the pep band
By the way, my wish nearly came true. It wasn't Chuck Mangione, but Allen Vizzutti just performed with the Symphonic Band this weekend at the performing arts center. IT WAS AWESOME. This guy is unbelievable with the trumpet. Check him out on youtube.

What a great experience for the spectators and the symphonic band.
