    Three Jacks earn independent honors
Three South Dakota State University volleyball players have received recognition as NCAA Division I Independent Volleyball weekly award winners.

Honored Tuesday were Kim Bostrom as Co-Offensive Player of the Week, Kristie Klusaw as Setter of the Week and Kristina Martin as Newcomer of the Week.

Bostrom, a senior middle hitter from Circle Pines, Minn., recorded 29 kills (4.83 kpg) and a .500 hitting percentage in Jackrabbit wins last week against Northern State and North Dakota State. She recorded 14 kills in the victory over Northern State, then notched 15 kills and a .750 hitting percentage in a sweep of North Dakota State. Bostrom, who will be one of three Jackrabbit seniors honored prior to Saturday's home finale against Upper Iowa, also recorded four service aces, 10 digs and seven block assists in the two matches.

Klusaw, a sophomore from Bellevue, Neb., tallied 85 assists (14.17 apg) in SDSU’s sweeps over Northern State and North Dakota State. She also recorded 17 digs (2.83 dpg) and four blocks in the two matches. As a team, SDSU hit a combined .347 in its two wins.

Martin, a freshman outside hitter from Hubertus, Wis., earned newcomer honors for the third time this season. Against Northern State she posted a double-double with 15 kills and 10 digs, then recorded 10 kills against North Dakota State. For the week she averaged 4.17 kills per game, hit .364, and averaged 2.67 digs and .83 blocks per game.
