SDSU wrestlers drop third straight
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Air Force recorded five pins, sending South Dakota State to its third consecutive wrestling dual defeat Saturday.
With the 37-12 defeat, the Jackrabbits fell to 6-5 overall, including a 5-4 mark against D-I opposition.
SDSU started the match on a high note as junior 149-pounder Chad Herrboldt recorded a third-period pin over Josh Peterson.
However, the Falcons quickly gained the momentum with back-to-back pins at 157 and 165 poiunds. Air Force added pins at 184, heavyweight and 133 to put the match away.
Winners by decision for the Jackrabbits included 174-pounder Travis Gottschalk and 197-pounder Cody Nehl. Nehl ran his winning streak to eight with a 5-2 victory over Brenden McLean.
SDSU returns to competition Feb. 5 by hosting Southwest Minnesota State in a 2 p.m. matinee at Frost Arena.
