AMES, Iowa -- Sprinter Cameryn Christion set two school records and the Jackrabbit men and women broke two more school records in indoor track and field competition over the weekend at the Iowa State Classic.

Christion, a freshman from Parker, set a new standard in the 200-meter dash Friday, clocking a record time of 25.45 seconds. She placed 42nd overall out of 126 female runners in the event. Josey Meurer previously held the record of 25.50 seconds set during the 2003 season.

Christion's second record came in the 60-meter dash on Saturday with a time of 7.84 seconds to tie for 33rd place among 70 competitors. The previous school record of 7.86 seconds was set by Tiffini Schuebel in 1995.

The Jackrabbit women's distance medley relay team of Becka Mansheim, Ashley Adams, Shannon Hattervig and Sheena Dauer also surpassed its own school record set a week earlier at Nebraska by nearly 12 seconds with a time of 11 minutes, 53.67 seconds. The quartet finished eighth out of 14 Division teams in the event.

Dauer later placed 11th in the 3,000-meter run with a season-best time of 9:53.62. Krystie Ratzlaff contributed a season-best time of 5:04.05 in the mile run to place 23rd, while Mansheim was 34th in 5:07.07.

Erin Zempel added an upper-division finish in the 60-meter hurdles, tying for 21st place in 9.05 seconds.

In men's competition, Brad Lowery broke his own school record in the 3,000-meter run on his way to a second-place finish out of 90 runners. A senior from Pierre, Lowery clocked a time of 8:05.04, bettering his previous best by nine seconds. Mircea Bogdan of Texas-El Paso won the race in 8:03.71.

Three other Jackrabbit men established season-best times: Aaron Friesz in the 400-meter dash, 52.24 seconds; Joe Roby in the 800 meters, 1:58.44, and Naoyuki Asano in the 5,000-meter run, 15:46.68.

The Jackrabbits resume competition Friday at the Bison Classic in Fargo, N.D. Action begins at 4 p.m. at the Bison Sports Arena on the North Dakota State University campus.
