Jackrabbits host youth soccer events to open season
The South Dakota State University women's soccer team will open the 2005 season this week with two matches at Fishback Soccer Park in Brookings.
The Jackrabbits, 5-11-1 a year ago, open the season Friday against former North Central Conference foe Minnesota State, Mankato in the first-ever night game played at Fishback. The contest is set for 7 p.m. The Mavericks recorded a 10-7-1 record last fall.
The Jacks return to action Sunday by taking on Creighton University in a 1 p.m. contest at home. The Bluejays wrapped up 2004 with a 9-8-1 overall record.
Brookings and Sioux Falls area soccer players will be able to watch Division I soccer free of charge this weekend at Fishback. Members of the Brookings Youth Soccer Association will be able to get into Friday nights game against MSMU free of charge if they are wearing their team jersey.
Sunday's game against the Creighton Bluejays will be Sioux Falls Soccer Day. Members of the Dakota Gold and Great Plains soccer clubs will be able to watch the first-ever Division I soccer game played at Fishback free if they are wearing their team jersey.
