    Jacks beat Air Force in three straight



    UNITED STATES AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- The South Dakota State University volleyball team ended a three-match losing streak, sweeping Air Force Thursday night.

    With the 30-24, 31-29, 30-22 victory, the Jackrabbits improved to 7-9 overall. Air Force fell to 4-10. SDSU held off a couple game points during a 29-27 deficit to win Game 2 and take control of the match.

    Junior outside hitter Minette Ridenour led the Jackrabbit offense with 12 kills, while sophomore middle hitter Amy Anderson added 10 kills and a match-high seven blocks. Kristina Martin contributed nine kills and a season-high 13 digs.

    Emily Rooney posted eight kills and a .462 hitting percentage (8 kills, 2 errors in 13 attacks) as SDSU out-hit the Falcons .207 to .037.

    Both halves of SDSU's setting tandem of Kristie Klusaw and Stephanie Behm reached double digits for set assists. Klusaw led the way with 24, while Behm tallied 17.

    Samantha Pearson chipped in with 10 digs and two service aces from her libero position.

    For Air Force, Brooke Akers was the lone Falcon player in double figures for kills with a match-high 13.

    SDSU closes out its road trip with a match Saturday at Northern Colorado. Start time is 7 p.m. Mountain (8 p.m. Central) at Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion in Greeley.
