Jackrabbit men drop dual to Missouri State

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Missouri State claimed titles in the first eight events and went on to defeat South Dakota State, 71-30, in a men's swimming and diving dual Saturday afternoon.
The Jackrabbits dropped to 0-2 in duals, while Missouri State improved to 4-0.
SDSU received its first victory from Mark Garrigues in the 100-yard backstroke as the freshman won in 55.52 seconds. Fellow freshman Josh Mueller added a win the 500 freestyle with a time of 5 minutes, 4.29 seconds.
The Jackrabbits closed out the meet by winning the 200 freestyle relay as the team of Mike Dill, Mike Looney, Bryce Sinclair and Justin Manning combined for a time of 1:32.71.
SDSU resumes its season Nov. 12 by swimming in a double dual in Green Bay, Wis., against Wisconsin-Green Bay and Valparaiso (Ind.).

SDSU women fall to Nebraska in the pool

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska turned in a dominating performance, sweeping South Dakota State and Missouri State in a women's swimming and diving double dual Saturday afternoon at the Devaney Center Pool.
The host Cornhuskers won nine of 13 events in defeating SDSU, 87-23, and Missouri State by a 72-46 count. The Jackrabbits fell to 1-2 in duals, with both losses coming against Big 12 opponents.
Kim Iverson was the top Jackrabbit finisher, placing third in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:13.05.
Freshman Mallory Onisk placed fourth in the 100 butterfly, 59.98 seconds, and was sixth in the 200 individual medley, 2:13.83.
Two other Jackrabbits turned in sixth-place performances: Heather Youngberg in the 100 freestyle, 56.02 seconds, and Mariah Pavlicek in the 100 backstroke, 1:03.70.
SDSU returns to action Nov. 12 by competing in a double dual against Wisconsin-Green Bay and Valparaiso (Ind.) in Green Bay.
