    SDSU signs Hutchinson's Polzin
High school volleyball standout Amanda Polzin, from Hutchinson, Minn., has signed a national letter of intent, indicating she will enroll at South Dakota State University next fall and compete for the Jackrabbit volleyball program.

A 6-foot middle/outside hitter, Polzin earned all-conference honors each of the past two seasons at Hutchinson High School, adding a second-team all-Metro honor from the Minneapolis Star Tribune to her list of accolades this fall. She tallied 736 kills over the past three seasons, while accumulating hitting percentages of .459, .490 and .490. Her 340 kills in 2005 led the conference and ranked ninth in the state of Minnesota.

"Amanda will be an impact player for us at both the middle and outside positions," SDSU head coach Andrew Palileo said. "Her club experience will especially allow her to adjust quickly to our style of play."

At the club level, Polzin has played for the Kaepa Northern Lights squad based in Burnsville, Minn. The 16-1 team placed third at both the AAU Nationals and USA Volleyball National Division in 2004, while the 17-1 squad took third at the 2005 AAU Nationals. She also gained international playing experience in July 2005, playing against European club teams during a two-week tour of Europe.

SDSU is in its final year of transition to the NCAA Division I level for volleyball. The Jackrabbits will be eligible for the NCAA Tournament starting with the 2006 season.
