Softball Edged Out By South Dakota State

MARIETTA, Ga.-- Senior Alicia Laraway blasted her sixth home run of the season, but it wasn't enough as South Dakota State edged out the University of Evansville 2-1 this afternoon in the first game of the Georgia Tech "Buzz Classic".
A home run by South Dakota State put the Jackrabbits up 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning before Laraway answered in the sixth with her solo shot to tie the game at 1-1. SDSU answered in the seventh with a sacrifice fly to win the game 2-1.
Laraway was 2-3 with the RBI and run scored and Junior Liz Mooney also went 2-3 on the day for the Aces.
Ashley Hobbs (6-1) shouldered the loss for UE, pitching the complete game and striking out seven.
With the loss the Aces fall to 9-4 for the year, and the Jackrabbits improve to 3-2.
UE will resume play tonight when they take on St. Josephs at 7:00.
