Oakland Preseason Favorite to Win Women’s Soccer Championship
ELMHURST, Ill. - For the second consecutive season, Oakland has been picked as the preseason favorite to win the Summit League women’s soccer title in a vote among the league’s nine head coaches. The Golden Grizzlies received all but two first-place votes for a total of 63 points.
The next three slots were decided by two points, as Western Illinois took second place with 46 points, the highest ranking ever for the Westerwinds. North Dakota State placed highest among the three newcomers to the league with 44 points and one first-place vote. Southern Utah collected 42 points in the fourth spot, while IUPUI received 36 points and Oral Roberts garnered 35 points, in the fifth and sixth slots, respectively. South Dakota State took the final first-place vote and collected 30 points, while Centenary (17) and IPFW (11) rounded out the voting...
