I had been saying the whole tournament this wasn't even possible in 25 seconds. The person had no help (ie. they had to get their own rebound) so they virtually could not miss. Which he didn't. I think he had about 6 seconds left when he got to half court and lined it up and let it go and I said to the guy next to me "if that's on line, it's good" because the distance was perfect, this after he banked in the FT and the 3Pter. The other thing they showed on the board was he was very, very close to crossing the half court line, which on deals like these can be reviewed by insurance companies. He was presented his keys to the car at halftime of the men's game, so hopefully he still gets it because that was awesome.

Oh, and congrats to AJ and the team. Great accomplishment KEEPING SDSU women's basketball on the national scene. Would enjoy a Minneapolis placement, but anywhere is better than nowhere.

Not to diss Luper like someone refered to earlier but when her ten turnovers came it seemed that she was trying to take over the game for ORU instead of passing to another with a better shot. This team will be good for the next three years if they all stay together and play as a team. ORU's downfall will be if egos start to get in the way and team goes play goes away. If it happens it will be the coaches fault for letting them come in and out as they feel especially Luper and Bigham. Players on the bench who dont get the opportunity to play because of this may just revolt. Thank god AJ has control and uses everyone in uniform in some way during the game.

Luper may have had a great season, but she seemed to stumble a bit in the tourny.

That being said, I really like the way that Pike plays. She is going to be alot of fun for us to watch against the Jacks for a few years.

She did play a heck of a tourney and has been good down the stretch for the Jacks. It's the unsung players most fans over look (the ones doing the little things). It might be hard for some fans to remember her on the court (which is because she didn't score a lot of points). She just played a steady game--got some rebounds and played some good defense.

Stu mentioned Schutt in his column today:

    http://www.argusleader.com/article/2...4/3100340/1002

"With friends and family looking on – her father, Mark, proudly wore a No. 20 jersey behind the bench – Schuttloffel showed her value as an “enforcer” during the Summit League event.

'I’m not a huge scorer,' she explained. 'But I enjoy trying to get my teammates open and getting assists and rebounds.'"

I'd post a link to an .mp3 of that accursed song, but then it would haunt EVERYONE'S dreams tonight.

And the only one I'd like cursed that way is the Dark Lord of Storrs.

Wish that I was on ole rocky top,
    Down in the tennessee hills.
Ain't no smoggy smoke on rocky top,
    Ain't no telephone bills.

Once there was a girl on rocky top,
Half bear the other half cat.
Wild as a mink, sweet as soda pop,
    I still dream about that.

    Rocky top, you'll always be
    Home sweet home to me.
    Good ole rocky top,
Rocky top tennessee, rocky top tennessee.

Once two strangers climbed on rocky top,
    Lookin' for a moonshine still.
Strangers ain't come back from rocky top,
    Guess they never will.

Corn won't grow at all on rocky top,
    Dirt's too rocky by far.
That's why all the folks on rocky top
Get their corn from a jar.

    Rocky top, you'll always be
    Home sweet home to me.
    Good ole rocky top,
Rocky top tennessee, rocky top tennessee.

Now I've had years of cramped up city life,
Trapped like a duck in a pen.
Now all I know is it's a pity life
    Can't be simple again.

    Rocky top, you'll always be
    Home sweet home to me.

Rocky top tennessee, rocky top tennessee.

I'd much rather get a 16 seed, get Nebraska in Minneapolis, and shock the Huskers back to Lincoln.

Personally, I'd like to see the bracket play out so that UT and SDSU play in the Final Four semifinal for the right to be sacrificed to the Dark Lord of Storrs and his Husky Minions.

    AND . . . Tennessee is #4 in the polls . . . they'll be a 1 seed.

Which of course puts the whole SDSU gets a 16 seed scenario into play, but in that case we'll still be more likely to be served up to Nebraska than Pat Summitt's Orange Machine.

The last 10 minutes of regulation will take years off a guy's life. It had Montana written all over it. Turnovers and complacent offense, wow. The shot by Rotert with 34 seconds to go off the offensive rebound about killed me.

The Jacks were just lucky ORU came out in OT cold or they would have been cooked. Give them credit. They took a deep breath, did not turn the ball over in OT (after 17 in the second half, ugh) and made FTs.

To be honest, I was more excited last year. This year I am more relieved, even as the 3 seed.

Congratulations to Ketty the birthday girl, Kristen, and tournament MVP Maria. Last year was a tough act to follow and are back again.
Talked to Ketty after game. She said she doesn't ever remember that many people singing Happy B-Day to her ever.

There will be no surprise factor next year, and many times (it seems), things don't come so easily as a sophomore as they did as a dominant freshman. Coach Fink also said in the presser that he doesn't have the patience to coach like AJ does....he (Fink) just lets the girls make plays. I find it hard to believe you can consistently win with that philosophy.
Luper, Bingham and one other sub themselves in and out of the game when they are tired. Run or point to the bench and then when they are ready just get up and check-in. No wonder some of the girls that played alot last year never get off the bench.
