Re: NCAA screw job
Addressing Mulkey's antics. Did those complaining about them see any of the Summit Men's tournament? You want to talk about theatrics, Ron Hunter did more on the sidelines in the first 10 minutes of their game than Mulkey did in the entire game. Throw in Dane Fife, Greg Kampe and Shawn Sutton and Mulkey looks like a kitten on the sidelines.

Of course, Tennessee fans told us to get over it; they won and we lost. To an extent, I guess we did get over it, but the team and coach actually embraced the screw job and used it as a motivator for the next season, adopting a slogan of "Finish the job." In 2005, many thought we got screwed again on our seeding, but that only added fire to the team's ultimate push to the national championship that year.
I wish your team continued success in the coming seasons and hope that you don't let the unfairness of the system weigh you down, but are instead motivated by it for next year. I also hope that the NCAA puts us in separate regions next year and that we don't have to meet until the the finals.

If I could, I'd lock up AJ with a long-term contract, too . . .
I wonder if the Foundation could hire him "part-time" with a 10-year contract to do public appearances and host the occasional TV show . . . completely separate from his full-time coaching duties as a state employee, of course . . .

Texas made Gail Goestenkors the highest paid women's basketball coach in the Big 12 on Thursday morning. By nightfall, she had already slipped to No. 2.
The Baylor Board of Regents approved an eye-popping new contract for Kim Mulkey late Thursday. She agreed to a 10-year deal worth more than $10 million, according to a Baylor athletic department source.
It's an unprecedented pact from a school desperate to keep the person who put the Lady Bears on the map by winning the 2005 national title.
"It's a good feeling as a coach to have a good sense of security," Mulkey said. "The way it looks now, I'll spend the rest of my career at Baylor. Not many coaches have that security."

Kim Mulkey became the highest paid Big 12 women's coach when she agreed to a 10-year deal worth over $10 million.
Mulkey is 183-53 in seven seasons at Baylor and guided the Lady Bears to six NCAA Tournament appearances.

And as for the substitution for an injured player rule, when did that become obscure and no one knew anything about? It has been that way for a long, long time. Back to when I was in junior high, which doesn't exist anymore because they are all called middle school, so it wasn't anything new.

However, which do you think will be more impressive to the pollsters and selection committee for Baylor come next spring? Beating Cal in Berkely, or beating the Jacks at Frost?
It's the Jacks credibility gap----yes, they are that good, but no, they beating them in Brookings isn't considered much of an accomplishment.

I didn't mean to imply that I am not ecstatic about this season. If not for all the attendant garbage affiliated with the loss, the loss would have been much easier to stomach.

Bottom line: I have lost all respect for Mulkey and Baylor. Baylor fans: Was it worth it?

As to Mulkey's comments, I think they should be put in context:
1) Not wanting to go to Brookings is a sign of respect. She definitely knows about SDSU's fan support based on previous comments, and possibly knows about SDSU's 90% home winning percentage at the D-1 level (Jenn W., Ashlea, Stacie and Morgan lost THREE games at Frost during their time there). Heck, Frost would be a Bear trap next year.
2) Not offering guarantee money is a sign of respect. You offer guarantee money to patsies.
