That wasn’t anywhere near the level we have been playing at but Bennett is good and I think we will settle down now that we have that out of our system.

as it was said earlier, KC is much better than their record. in my view, I would look pretty hard at maybe a new coach. the problem with that would be that a new coach might make the Bennet sisters think harder about leaving.

but from the Jacks side of it. KC is a tough team and an aggressive team. they came thru it with the W and I will guess they look at the film tonight or tomorrow morning and we see another level of play on Saturday

I did think they also took their foot off the gas a bit defensively when they were ahead by 20+ in the 4th Q.

I would agree to some degree. Fox seemed off her game to begin and got replaced by Abdouch. after her trip to the bench she hit a nice floater in the lane and then dropped a 3. I do think Abdouch has been the better of the two today. I am hoping that by the time next year rolls around they do get Mahli to cut down some of the high risk passes. at this point, it just feels like something you live with. she is playing well today, but she has forced some passes as she always does

the other BIG factor, I would say, is that the refs have allowed the game to be EXTREMELY physical. on the defensive end that helps the Jacks, but I would say Brooklyn paid the price for the return side of physical play when we were on offense
And the team that plays a more aggressive defense (just my opinion) gets called for fewer fouls ( 9 for SDSU , six for KC, first half, didn't look at that stat for 2nd half. I always thought the opposite, at least the fouls being around even for sure.I will give KC some credit though they are well coached, and know how to play close but not foul pretty good, that takes a lot of discipline and skill, but they got away with a few I'd say.

I don’t know if she was at the beginning of the game but once I saw Vasecka on the end of the bench, I started looking for Hoselton all the rest of the game…didn’t see her at all.

I NEVER NEVER question the importance that the Jacks place on the STUDENT part of student athlete!!!

going back 30+ years thru all my coaching days and probably beyond, I have had so sooooooo many conversations with kids who were considering where to play college sports (across multiple sports!!). in almost every conversation I tell kids they have to decide what are their goals and priorities

but if they are asking for my advice then I think they should look for a school that looks at it like this-

priority 1- we want you to become the best human you can possibly be
priority 2- we want you to be the best student you can be and we WILL demand that you get an education PERIOD
priority 3- we want you to be the best athlete that you can be

plenty of schools WILL tell a kid something similar to that. CRAZY, some schools do not even bother to say it, even if they do not mean it!!

SDSU is NOT the only school, but in my experience it is RARE!! the above is exactly what they tell kids and it is EXACTLY what they do!!!

all of that said, I was still very surprised to hear Coach Thramer in her post game interview state that the team will go home tonight and the team WILL go to classes tomorrow. I am amazed. I am also impressed with the ability of the girls to be able to go to class and focus

my expectation was totally that the team came to SF either last night or this morning. I can totally see them doing a walk thru in Brookings this morning and then getting on the bus. but also, I am sure they had the chance to have some level of a practice in the Denny this week and I think it would be no surprise if they just stayed in SF the rest of the week

but once they arrived today, I would have guessed they stayed and that the girls did their school work online.

anyway, just another example of the amount of work the girls do, as well as the effort by the Coaches and the school as a whole, to help the girls focus on their education!! OBVIOUSLY the WBB is one of the best in the country year in and year out in terms of team GPA.

the team is just all around IMPRESSIVE and we are very lucky to have such great kids to cheer for!!!

anyone notice that UNO has a Vedral girl? her dad is the Vedral from Gregory, SD who played FB for the huskers

and UND has a Volmer. her dad is former Jacks player Cody Volmer from Presho, SD

I didn't see her either. Maybe she's home recovering as I'd assume she had surgery but I also found that odd...

I hope that is the right answer. That thought crossed my mind too.

well in my memory, I feel like the kids often have spring break around this time. OBVIOUSLY, based on comments from Coach Thramer about the girls going to class tomorrow, it is NOT this week. but maybe next week is the break? if that is true, I could imagine they delayed the surgery until now so she would have the week off to ease the recovery

if that is the case, then yes, maybe she is at home or even having the surgery today

Vasecka was under our basket during warmup- no sign of Hoselton.

I was/am concerned about Felchle. She only came in for less than two minutes in the third quarter and then never saw the court after that. At one time I thought she had tears in her eyes on the bench, hopefully just sweat. She has come on really well the second half of the season and we need someone to spell Meyer a little bit here and there (which I think she has done a good job of for a true freshman). Hopefully it was just game flow for AJ and nothing wrong with Felchle.

I think Felchle was fine. Just had a rough day and couldn't get shots to fall. Common freshman day on the big stage.

I do see Hoselton re-posted the score and bunch of the women's basketball things on her social media. I'd guess she is home recovering seeing that.

                              totally agree with you 2011!!

Brooklyn Jr had a very off day. our offense looked stuck in nearly hardened cement when we had the double Brooklyn lineup on the floor today and I am 99% positive that is why she did not see much PT in the second half

fully believe she will have a role going forward, but today was not the day
