GDT: SDSU vs NDSU 7pm Scheel's Center SLN

This is a big game with the top 2 teams. It also has no relevance for the seeding. The result of Saturday's game will determine the 2 seed. All the women's games are played tonight. The Fargo game has the 2 players with the best chance for POY recognition. Collins has assembled a team to win conference championship in 7 years. The Jackrabbits will continue figure out their roles as the injury bug appears again. The coaching staff will have the team ready for tonight. Go Jacks!!

It'll be interesting to see how AJ handles the rotation tonight. Could we see more of the 2 Brooklyn's together down low? Will he utilize both Fox and Abdouch on the court together to help neutralize the speed of the Bison guards? I'm guessing tonight will be more of a chess match on what might work in Sioux Falls. As always in AJ I trust.

The 2 Brooklyns could get more assists for B Meyer from the high post spot. If a double comes from the perimeter or low post, we could see the resulting shot from outside or paint. The Jackrabbits need to avoid the extra turnovers on forcing ball to B Meyer with an extra pass and different angle. The guards will need to work very hard to contain the bison guards. Sheppard has been adding minutes which will need to be positive additions in her support.

Yes, forcing the ball inside has been an issue. Although I'd expect Collins is confident in Koenen being able to play D on Meyer, alleviating the need for double teaming.

Hoping this is a closer game than it was in Brookings. Not expecting us to win although I’d gladly welcome it. Hoping we just are more competitive and can match them on both ends of the floor so we can win the likely game in March that’ll matter the most.

I do hope that you are correct and that ndsu will plan to let Koenen guard Brooklyn 1 on 1 for the huge majority of the game.

the two played each other 1 on 1 to begin the game and for most of the time until Brooklyn subbed out of the game with about 6 minutes left in the 2nd Q. at that point in the game Brooklyn had 13 points and Koenen had 9.

If Brooklyn is allowed to play Koenen 1 on 1 I do believe she wins the battle. Koenen is a really really good player, but she absolutely did not stop Brooklyn 1 on 1 and she also scored the majority of her points when the Jacks defense changed a bit after Brooklyn picked up a second foul

Brooklyn vs Avery 1 on 1 was basically a tie in game one. unless the refs impact the matchup, I think the two stars will probably both have a good game. if they play 1 on 1 most of the game, I think Brooklyn comes out ahead

but the difference in the game was ndsu other starters outscored the Jacks other starters by 8 pts. that also happened to be the difference in the final score. we need to cut down TOs that gave them enough easy scores to matter and we need to do a better job of guarding the ndsu supporting cast

Brooklyn sat for basically 6 minutes of the second Q and still played Koenen to a draw. Koenen is very very good but she cannot beat us on her own. we absolutely HAVE TO do a better job shutting down her supporting cast

I agree with you LGR. We had multiple oppourtunities to open the game up more in the early going that "could have" changed the whole outcome. As far as tonight, my wish list is limit TO's and no ticky tack fouls. We probably need Thul and Fox to step up big. Basically, we need to play well.

i would VERY MUCH like to see Fox find her shooting stroke again. I think we need that if we want to have a good chance to win an NCAA game. and of course I want to see Tuhl, Fox, Abdouch score well and continue to become stronger two way players....
but for tonight specifically, I think it is very likely that what we need most from our perimeter players is much better defense. we need to stop the ndsu supporting cast from putting up 50 ish points.

i guess I could just say MM, Fox, Tuhl, Abdouch, Colbeck need to outscore Frost, Schiller, Kryzewski, etc...
OR we need Brooklyn to put up another 40+

I don’t see any scenario where she does that, so we are left with option A. Vasecka scored 11 in the first meeting. Can Thul replace that and Fox step up this game? In 2 hours or so we will know

I hate to lose to NDSU in anything, but NDSU going into Sioux Falls undefeated puts an enormous amount of pressure on them. Having never won there before along with being undefeated puts a target on their backs.

Last I knew we were starting the #1 3pt % shooter in the nation. So there is that too.

No video links for the game?

Good first quarter. Pressure is on the Bison.

Playing good defense. Lots of hustle.
