GDT: ORU vs SDSU 1pm FB&T SLN (Pork Classic)

Cophie Anderson is the new ORU head coach. She had been associate had coach for 3 years and her husband has been on staff as well. She has a young and taller roster than many years in Tulsa. They are still being outrebounded by opponents. The past 6th woman of the year, Ogelsby, will be missing some games due to an injury. They still put up 83 points in Vermillion with a 22 point win. The Jackrabbits could be back to full strength soon. Thul and KV played last Saturday and AJ's weekly show indicated Fox could return as the entire roster has been participating in practices. I would not expect Fox in the rotation unless she is very close to 100%. The Jackrabbit defense should hold the Golden Eagles below their 77.4 ppg. Go Jacks!!
Best to remember these are kids and they are doing everything they can to entertain us, be scholars, and all in all be great humans. Jackedforlife

Really good start. 3’s falling. Much sharper overall today compared to the last few weeks.

Eight 3's in the first quarter. Being back to full strength gives the second unit more firepower with Abdouch, Thul and Behrens coming off the bench. The size of the second unit allows Hartwig to play some center, which should allow Brooklyn to cut her minutes a bit.

Then a really bad second quarter. Missed 14 shots in a row. ORU zone causing issues. Meyer really hasn’t gotten going with that.

And then you miss 14 straight shots in the second quarter. Brooklyn and Hartwig weren't on the floor together for much of that quarter - not sure why.

Brad P said Bella Edwards was homeschooled until her junior year. Figured it meant she didn't play competitive basketball during the winter, but it turns out there's a homeschool league.

ORU isn’t going to go away. They were down 18 to start 4th quarter against the Bison and they had the ball with under a minute left and were only behind by 4

6 min left and we’ve tied the school record for 3’s. Fox is underrated as a shooter. What a return.

I cannot say exactly how it works in Oklahoma or lots of other states but generally I believe homeschool kids are still counted as students in the school district that they live in and I would say it is not uncommon for them to play for the athletic teams for their school district. I am not going to think of the name off the top of my head. maybe I will look it up shortly, but when NW Orange City won multiple championships back around 2010 they had a girl from Iowa who was homeschooled and I think was a 2000 pt scorer or something close to that in high school

I would say that has very close to nothing to do with Meyer. not only was she getting a second defender, she was actually getting 3 defenders on a VERY regular basis and occasionally even 4. the difference today from recent games is that girls not named Meyers and Mathieowitz were making baskets. the second quarter I would say maybe the team got a little bit satisfied with a 20+ point lead and thinking that every 3 was going thru the net. the player movement was not as crisp and probably ball movement also. did not get quite as many good looks and when they did they missed anyway

i really think the key moment of the game came about 90 seconds into the 3rd Q. the defense had been good but was starting to crack a bit under the weight of the offense being unable to buy a bucket. Brooklyn made the first FG after a LONG FG draught but she got fouled and missed the FT and then Maggie got THREE O boards and finally Fox dropped a 3 off of a kick out. from then on the offense was back on track

They need to schedule it during a doubleheader. Which they have a week from today.
