  • Limiting fouls

A lot has been said this year about our high number of turnovers and deservedly so.But, I think we've made a lot of progress with that.We can still do better though.

One thing that hasn't been discussed as much is how much silly fouls or fouls committed because of lack of effort to defend by working hard to stay in position to play good defense. It takes a lot of work to defend w/o fouling.Boxing out and getting good position to rebound instead of letting someone grab a rebound and then reach in for it,or go over the back.

Summit ref's call a lot of fouls, and contact draws a lot of attention from them. That fact has to be kept in mind at all times while on the court.Of course , there's going to be contact when people play hard ,but a lot of wether a foul is called or not is how much they let you get by with. Our players have to get a "feel" for that early in the game.Anything that's done to clean up our game will go a long ways to this team reaching it's full potential. It just seemed that every time IUPUI players missed a shot, a foul was called on one of our players.Hope we work on those things the last three games of the season before the conference tournament.
