  • Cancun Challenge 2011

    Jackrabbit Fans,

I know this was discussed earlier this year. Here is an official release. My friend now works for Triple Crown Sports (I can get you his contact info if you like). He sent me this info on Friday and I'm trying to link to some of it here. I am pretty certain I'll be in Cancun for Thanksgiving, anyone want to join us? He said the Jackrabbit crowd was by far the largest and most enthusiastic last time and they of course want to see that again. I say we give it to them. I have a nice PDF version of the Jackrabbit Fan Package but I don't know how to link it here so I copied a portion including the prices. He tells me the price quoted includes a $1500 resort credit per room that can be used for golfing, spa treatments, etc....

Games will be played the 24th and 25th of November.

Here is a link to the resort itself. I think some forum members attended the previous event. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Should I bring my clubs?
Do you recommend the ocean view room at the added cost?
Is it worth the price of admission?
Should we book early or wait and see?

Don't know if it was the beer talking or what, but I think wife and I and two other couples are heading for Cancun this fall as well as the Cal Poly game. Man I gotta quit drinking...I get too easy. Just like old times I guess.

I'm pretty easy when I drink too!

We were at Cancun the last time and Moon Palace is great! Made our air reservations last night for this year, and will be going through TCS for the four nights, although we will probably stay at another less-expensive place for two or three extra days in Cancun. The last time, we didn't go through TCS, because we got a Northwest Vacation package at Moon Palace much cheaper. (Did have to buy the women's ticket package for $200 as I recall...and TCS doesn't guarantee you will get a ticket...but there is plenty of room and they will sell the tickets to you). They put in a court in the ballroom and so it is a rinky-dink ballgame atmosphere, livened up by an enthusiastic Jackrabbit fan base!! In addition, since food and drink is free, they setup in the ballroom and you can eat hor d'oeuvres and drink right at the games!)

We took the sales pitch for a free round of golf at their course, and rented clubs...can't remember the charge but less than what the extra bag fee (round trip) is now. If you plan to stay and play lots of days, you might want to consider taking your own.

It is all inclusive and they have some great restaurants (particularly the Italian one at the golf course) and so we downed a lot of wine with meals to take advantage of the all-inclusive cost.
