Not a bad perspective rabbit. Just curious as to who you think may defect?

I think guaranteed back if Nagy is here: Callahan, Sargent, Kai, Moss, Cordova, Palarca, Engen.

That is the core group that we need back. Outside of that, not that I want anyone to leave, but we would not be in a world of hurt if others chose other options.

That means lots of lumps along the way.
I think both Sargent and Palarca handle pressure quite well. Clint obviously isn't a true point guard like you said, but does really well handling the ball and limiting turnovers. Dale has a little bit of trouble, but I think we all see he isn't a true point guard at all

Kai was awesome last night. They had no true answer for him, we just couldn't get him the ball without turning it over.

Defense ????? I really don't know what the deal is. It seems they were confused on switches and constantly left someone open. Hopefully, that will improve with time and playing together. Even with shaky defense, if they shot a somewhat normal percentage in the first half the game would have only been a 10 point game. Who knows after that.

Fact of the matter is we got handled by a better, more experienced team last night.

Life isn't good right now, 14 pages of us eating each other like wolves won't make the pain go away or solve the problem. I am not saying its wrong that we point out issues just no reason to jump all over each other because the basketball team is struggling.

The team came out and competed in the second half, moral victory? no. But at least it should show us these kids won't give up and will try to work through all of this. It also shows us they believe in their coach. Right now that says enough about him for me.

When I posted last night that our starting guards are finesse type players,I did not mean to question their toughness or manhood. What I meant and still believe is that they have more shooting or off guard skills. They are talented players, but I think Moss has the ability and a mindset to be more "Woodside - like" in the future. That is to take the ball hard all the way to the basket and either finish, get fouled or create for others.I don't know who it will be,but when we find/develop a point guard who can do this it will open up more easy baskets for our offense.

Exactly why I like Cordova. He shows that intensity. I see it in Garrett and Ben evey now and then. Loney always seems to be giving his all, most the time its not enough but its all Loney can give. Youth isn't an excuse. Inexperience is relative. I think some fans aren't willing to admit that we are where we are, not good. What do you do when things aren't good? You make them better. How do we make them better? Lots of answers to that question. What are the right ones? Thats why coaching is a tough job.

Not going to deny that. I'm hoping that improves with maturity. The intensity the last few minutes of the UMKC game is what we need!

Maybe I am just insane, but other than a 22-2 run early in the first half, we didn't look all that bad. IMO, the biggest difference in the game was ridiculous 3 point shooting brought on by superb ball movement. Ball movement comes when a couple things happen: players have to know where each other are going to be before they are there, and players have to trust that when they give up the ball it is going in the hole. NDSU is there, last night, we weren't.

Calling a spade a spade and a shovel a shovel does not make one a "bad" fan or a "fairweather" fan. We sucked last night regardless of what excuse you want to offer. Its not anyone one coach or player that is to blame. That doesn't mean you just accept it. Rationalization might make you feel better but it doesn't do the program a bit of good in the end. We need our current players to get better (maybe they will) or we need to find better players. Alternative, we could try to schedule teams who aren't as good. Maybe DWU or U of Mary? I don't think any of us want that.

    Jimmy, that's a great post!
Why don't you go back and read all of the words I wrote.

I simply have nothing to say any more about the program until it turns around, because I decided last night that saying ANYTHING would be unproductive.

Turns out I was more right than I knew.

Unfortunately, or fortunately I guess, I wasn't able to see or hear the game last night. Just saw the score on TV and was very suprised. Not much to be learned from a loss like that other than we still have a long way to go.

Nothing like a lopsided loss to your biggest rival to bring up the frustration level!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but that's all they are, opinions. I'm on record for believing in Coach Nagy and his staff, so nothing new there. I don't get the theory of getting rid of Nagy.

It has been interesting how the transition to D1 has gone very well in almost every sport except for MBB. Guess what? It's the toughest sport by far to make the transition. That just makes the spotlight on this team that much brighter. It can be said that at the D2 level SDSU was more succesful at MBB than any other sport over the last 20 years. That's over! SDSU made the leap to D1. Transition is brutal! Throw in a couple of transfers, a couple of other uncontrollable things, and an injury or two over the last few years and you have a major struggle on your hands. Things have been starting to go the right way this year. Not last night, not even close. You've got 2 frosh, 2 sophs, and a senior starting with significant minutes being played by other frosh and sophs. That isn't the recipe that most coaches would pick. It's just what we have right now. Next year, all of these men will have more experience and be better prepared for what it takes to succeed. Add in the recruits that we have and they will continue to get better.

Nagy has proven himself at SDSU. He has also stuck with us through transition. He deserves a couple more years in my book. Who would you get that is better qualified and has as good of a moral character? Why take that cahnce?

Look at other sports at SDSU:

Football-Stiglemeir's record was very mediocre at D2 level. He deserves credit for what has happened. There weren't many of us that thought he was "the guy", especially after that one thing. That being said the jump to FCS football isn't as tough as the jump to D1 MBB.

WBB-Transition has been great. AJ doing a great job (former Nagy Grad. Asst. by the way). The jump in WBB isn't even close to as hard as MBB.

Volleyball-Awesome! Pallileo is the man and the team is solid.

What's my point? All of the coaches of those sports have been very succesful going through transition. Nagy had a better record than all of them at the D2 level. Get rid of him? No thanks! He just is saddled with a tougher job to get through it than the rest of the coaches. He deserves the chance to get it done!

These young men can still grow a lot this year and it will benefit them next year. They need our support! All these posts about calling someone "fair weather" or this or that drive me nuts. We all want the same thing and that is for this team to start winning. As a fan, the only thing we can do that can help is to give them our support. They will get mine! Hopefully we can all rally behind them.

Off the soapbox in my idealistic world!

Maybe a new logo is all we are missing to turn it around?

    GO JACKS!

This is a repeat of three years ago, two years ago, last year.
When are we going to turn the corner?
    what do you want done?

For those of you that want Nagy out, who do you think were gonna bring in that'd be better?

I think some are quick to send him packing, but haven't thought one minute past that point. How's it going to affect the players there now? Who would transfer? Would the juco commit for next year want out of his commitment? Would or commits for the following year look elsewhere? Is the next coach going to bail as soon as something better comes along? Cause I think nagy wants to be here and finish here.

Remember, there's a whole lot more to during the year coach than meets the eye.

...An off the topic question. Why is Payton Tivis just seeing his first action now? If he truly is a future prospect a redshirt would've made more sense...why play him for 6 minutes roughly 20 games into the year? I highly doubt he'll be a contributor this year, so why waste the year of eligibility?
