The zone bogeyman makes me laugh. USD sucks at shooting from deep so a zone makes sense and worked the first time. Makes sense that we tried it again.

The zone boogeyman gives up blatant, wide open threes. The zone boogeyman gave up multiple three point records to other bad shooting teams in 2017. This is not Jim Boeheim's zone defense. So sure, if your best plan of attack is to give up wide open threes and hope USD misses enough, then knock yourself out. And if the argument to play zone is that we are even worse in man, then that's an indictment on poor coaching.

Last 4 games, USD has hit 40%+ from deep so they have been shooting better. Jacks haven't been good no matter which defense they try.

Not sure where you're going with the sarcasm. Yeah we suck in man to man, too. Theoretically it has a better chance for success. Otz being bad at coaching man defense is not a good excuse for playing equally bad zone defense.

Jenkins has continued to go under every screen while guarding Simpson. That means it's part of the gameplan. They did it on ball screens with Konchar the other night and he killed us on threes, too.

maybe this team needs to lose another game or two so they realize they need to play defense. that last 3 they just let him shoot. Not event a hand or close out or anything. I didn't know we could come out this flat with only a couple games left for Daum and Flatten etc. It looks like a scrimmage where both teams don't really care but the JV is hot and the varsity just doesn't care. Guess we will have to see what we do in the 2nd half. Hope Daum doesn't get his 3rd foul in the first half.
