Re: Michigan GDT
Well, the dust has settled. And so has my blood pressure. I sure wish we would have given a better accounting of ourselves tonight. Obviously, we shot poorly from the outside. That's the danger of being an outside-shooting team. But our defensive letdowns and poor rebounding in the second half were really disappointing. I think we had opportunities to build a lead in the first half. We didn't. And Michigan showed up and meant business in the second half. We faded. Their defense was too good. If Chad could have hit some open shots, I think things would have opened up for Nate a bit more. We just couldn't keep up. We didn't have the depth.
I don't know what internal strife there is within the team, but many thanks to Nate and Tony and Nagy for their past service, and we'll move on with whomever we have, I guess. Nate and Tony will be missed. Hope we can live up to the standard they have set the past couple of years.
Some of the late games tonight helped me accept how we did. Specifically, Akron and Montana. I'm glad we weren't a no-show. But I think we had an opportunity to advance. I wish we could have been Harvard. Our day will come in due time.
As much as anybody, I am guilty of growing aggravated during or right after games. And I post real-time comments, which is just stupid, of course. But that's the nature of message boards. Everybody needs to keep that in mind. That said, I'm a big Nagy fan. Do we need a longer bench? Sure. We might take a step back next year, too. I'll try and adjust my expectations if others do the same. One thing, though. You can't tell the fans to not be accepting of moral victories, then get wound up when folks get upset when the performance is sub-par. Just wish we would have played our best tonight. I hate, hate, hate Michigan, so a victory would have been so very sweet. I know we were the underdog, but...I was hopeful.

Also, Brayden is on the list of 3 top performers so far today on espn.com. Wish it could've come with a W.

Also, someone, somewhere said, lets cheer for New Mexico (3)...they're about to lose to Harvard (14).

Re: Michigan GDT
Tough to swallow tonight mostly because as a team we just did not play well. We obviously knew that beating Michigan would be a tough task, but a better shooting and rebounding effort would have made it possible.
Thanks Tony and Nate. You played your heart out. Tony's effort and abilities on this team should not be understated. Obviously Nate is probably the best player we have seen at SDSU. Understatement of the century: You left the program in better shape than you found it.

It was frustrating to watch our team miss a lot of shots in a loss to a top-10 team, but it can't be nearly as bad as what Akron fans are feeling right now. They suddenly lost three players in the last 24 hours and their big game was essentially over before it started (down 30-15 right now). Imagine how that would feel!

Watching Colton Iverson outrebound the entire Mizzou tram, I'm wondering how much better it would have been were we to get him.

*edit - going back and looking, I blame it on either 77 or Nova....it just snowballed from there.

Re: Michigan GDT
Bummed we couldn't be cinderalla this year. I really thought we had a shot.
That 5 or 6 minute dry spell in the first half killed us. We were up what, 6 or 7 at that point? Would've liked to have seen us carry that lead into the locker room.
I was also surprised we didn't see Heemstra or Horstman come in, if nothing else, at least towards the end.

Re: Michigan GDT
My suggestion would be to contact Vandrovec and tell him to get on Nagy's *ss about why he had such a short bench this year and if he plans on doing things differently next year.
But wait a couple of days for Terry to get over the food poisoning or flu or whatever he said he was having today . . .
