Re: Michigan GDT
Guys lets be honest here. We missed our shots. We had plenty of good looks,. Sometimes that happens.....its basketball. We make a couple more threes in the first half its a completely different game.
And the TV timeouts are LONG. You really notice it when your sitting in the arena.

Re: Michigan GDT
Michigan was the better team.
I don't recall many games where a point guard gets double teamed off ball screens, on every ball screen. Michigan wasn't just hedging ball screens with Nate, they kept 2 guys on him until his defender was back in position. Their entire gameplan was to stop Wolters, and make the rest of the team beat them. Nate's statline was still 10-5-6. Burke's was 6-0-7. I don't think Nate's draft stock will suffer at all.
Chad had a bad shooting night, but let's not throw him under the bus. The guy is a VERY big reason why we are in back to back tourney's. How quickly we forget his 2 HUGE threes against WIU last year and his 17 points 5 rebounds against IPFW in Sioux Falls. He will be a VERY big reason why we don't fall back to sub 10 win seasons once Nate is gone.

Re: Michigan GDT
I think that we could have given horstman a shot when they weren't falling for white, just to see if his hand was hotter and marcus might have matched up better with their 4. After the game naggy said that because of the two and a half minute tv timeouts that we didn't get as worn down as in normal games and I didn't think we looked like we were tired as much as frustrated with the shots not falling. I understand why he didn't use sub as much, but I think we should have tried someone else just for an energy boost.

Re: Michigan GDT
despite the result, at least in my section of the Palace, the Jacks made an impression with the Michigan fans. when Nate did make some of his moves to the basket and score there were a lot of ohhs and ahhs, and did you see thats, on the Jacks running the motion offense and passes a coach behind me was very impressed. the shots just didn't drop last night but we did scare them,, for just a bit.
also very nice turnout at Hoops, very glad to meet Montana Rabbit and Jacks #! Fan and the rest.

For some players, the game is just too big, and Chad White should of stayed home.

We've come a long way, baby.
It's ironic that Coach Nagy was commenting on the ineffectivness of offense play. Its usually bad defense and getting out boarded that are his big concerns. Now thats a switch.Last edited by Nidaros; 03-22-2013, 04:07 AM.

Re: Michigan GDT
I agree with those who've suggested our offense was too passive, but I thought our defense and rebounding were very good overall. I'm a little surprised to see how much criticism Tony's gotten in this thread with no mention of his outstanding defense, or of the fact that he didn't miss a shot. I'm also surprised by the suggestion that this game hurt Nate's draft prospects. The big question NBA scouts had about Nate was whether he could stay in front of an elite guard. After the way he blanketed Sports Illustrated's national player of the year, I'll be shocked if someone doesn't take him in the first round.

We're a whole different team when his jumper is falling because it gives us 5 shooters. However, he had a horrible stretch over the 2nd half of the B1G season where he couldn't hit a jumper and could only score at the rim. A big reason we went from #1 to a 4 seed, hope he can keep it up.

Robinson and Hardaway were a combined 8-for-10 on threes. Nate and Chad were a combined 0-for-10 on threes. That's a 24-point difference. Ball game. This isn't a criticism. Shooting is mysterious sometimes, but NBA scouts are probably about as likely to abandon Nate based on five shots as Coach Nagy is to abandon Chad based on five shots.
When we start talking about next season, we probably ought to mention Anders Broman, who ended his high school career on Thursday with 5,119 points. I earned a bachelor's degree in math at SDSU, and that's impossible (ha ha): http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/highsc...185908898.html

Re: Michigan GDT
First of all, thanks to our seniors and entire team for an incredibly exciting and sucsessful season.......But.......play some bench! Seriously! How well have heemstra, bittle and horstman stepped up when given the opportunity! I am so upset for these guys. They have earned the minutes and didnt get them, again. How many f***ing times this year have our really good starters ran out of gas in the second half this year in big games? When you are playing a team with better athletes such as murray st and michigan guess what happens when your guys get tired from playing every single minute! No doubt nagy built this program but his stubborness and refusal to play a bench cost us this year. Just so upset for our bench, they deserved to play, and in my opinion would have helped our starters(who again i think are great) play more QUALITY minutes. Dissapointed nagy didnt give the team he built the best opportunity to win the game.......in my opinion.

Anyway, good luck next season hope to see you guys back in the tourney, had a decent turnout tonight as far as attendance is concerned. Saw a lot more SDSU gear than I expected.

Re: Michigan GDT
I'm gonna add one thing. Jacks fans represented today. The pregame rally at hoops was unreal. The place was so full of Jacks fans they were turning away Michigan fans. The band and cheerleaders stopped by and played the school song in the bar. Unreal experience today. If you weren't able to attend you missed out.
Disappointed we could not win. We needed some threes to drop and they never did.
