    This.
Little Old is a state of mind best left in the rearview mirror.

I suspect it would take a Murray State-type year from the Jackrabbits to see ESPN in Frost Arena again this year.

This is not a totally unthinkable eventuality. The odds are heavily against this of course, but it's not totally unthinkable.

    It's possible.

I agree that the USD game would not garner any national attention. What kind of record/RPI will USD have by that point of the season? A non-conference matchup against a good team would definitely be more appealing nationally. It's still a (very) long-shot, but this would be the year to do it.

I know the stars aligned to get us on ESPNU last year, I'm just saying they could align again this season in an even more spectacular fashion.

    Nate Wolters could be:
    -A Naismith candidate
    -A Bob Cousy finalist
    -only player averaging 20-5-5
    -A first round draft pick

ESPN will likely feature Wolters in some form or another on:
    -Sports talk radio
    -Sports Center
    -College basketball shows
-Too many online articles and tweets to count

    On top of that
-Anyone who works in college basketball at ESPN knows who Wolters is and most seem to like talking about him
-ESPN knows what kind of atmosphere SDSU can generate after last year's game and several Summit tourneys
-SDSU should be in contention for a SL title
-SDSU would be a Cinderella story in March (ESPN doesn't care about that though)
-The team has a pretty good chance of being good and fun to watch
-USD or NDSU/SDSU gameday and time could be maneuvered to a Tuesday or other slow night with the fewest logistical problems (no flight changes for the teams).

I didn't mention USD because the rivalry would play outside South Dakota, USD or NDSU are the teams currently on our schedule that would offer a nice atmosphere and storyline for TV. I realize the rivalry game doesn't matter outside SD, but the atmosphere would be great.

Its a long shot, but it isn't impossible, IMO.
It would seem like a better possibility to me for one of the ESPN stations to pick up a non-conference game against a major school ( like the Washington game from last season.)

I'd love getting a game on ESPN but it won't be happening anytime soon unless it's special circumstances like last year. And even that game was on ESPNU.

Side note: This is exactly why getting USD scheduled again was never a priority. It doesn't do anything outside of SD; however, I think it's good they're finally playing again.
